I think your best bet would be to see if you can get a quote on how much it might cost to repair, then if it seems worth it, repair and if not, replace? The only tv I've ever personally owned broke about a month after its warranty expired. It turned out it would cost about the same amount to get it repaired that I initially paid for it in the first place, so I decided to save up for a new one. That was back in 2008 and I still don't have a tv >.=.>

If it's an LCD, chances are is that the main power supply board may need to be re-capped, which means replacing all the capacitors. (I've done that with my bro's 32" Polaroid HD LCD 2 years ago, the darn thing's still going. xD). But I'm not sure if you've worked with electronics in the past, so I'd say get a quote.
