dont worreh bro, i dont think these shitty laws n bill will ever pass, the net and pron n all the stuff most people like is too popular to let these things pass
Eh. Where would you go? The US is still the second-free-est country on the planet (I think the Netherlands are slightly free-er in terms of personal rights.)
Canada? Yeah. As a whole the Commonwealth countries are good (including Canada), but they're still more restrictive than the United States in certain areas related to freedom of speech.
No, I think the best solution is to wait out the bad, perhaps change the system before it's beyond help. Fix what's broken. It can be done. It just requires the willpower to stay and work on it.
And don't you dare say anything like "I can't do anything to help" or "It will take too long". Change is not measured in days, months, or years. Change is measured in decades and centuries. It takes generations of people saying "No, I want this changed" to effect anything major in the US (based on the various civil rights movements, generally sixty to a hundred years from first major movement to becoming the new normal, with an apparent average of seventy).
I've done my part, and Free speech is the least of my worries with a corrupt government like the USA. If they ever went on a crazy spree, who's to say who goes and stays? The system has been beyond repair for around 30 years or more. Any attempt at change financially has been cockblocked and essentially too little too late at this point. There has been change, yes, but the structure has remained the same.
Last thirty years...lessee...2000s....1990s...1980s....
Interesting. You believe we're still living in Cold-War America. o~o Hmm. I don't think that's true.
For one, the crazies are louder than they used to be.
Two, the liberals are liberaler than they used to be.
Three, the furry fandom is larger.
Just a few changes among many.
Change is gradual. I'm going to assume you are around 30 years old, given that is your timeframe, so I will say this: No one will ever say they saw change occuring through their lifetime. They see it as something that occured in spurts, even though it was gradual the entire time. You see what you see now, and your mind is instantly saying "it was always like this". That's natural. It's just not true.
Again, that's natural. Why worry? Enjoy the ride. The general trend has been upwards for twelve thousand years. It's not going to turn around now, not unless something wipes out 90% of the population.
