I agree, though my experience with Master/submissive is a tad different from what I have seen.

Collars are extremely important to me, and something I cannot have put on me just on a whim. It takes my "sub-state" of being to a whole nother level. However I do not have to always have it on, though I always like to have some sort of reminder that connects me to My Master phsyically.

My mate and I actually tend to switch between who is the master and who is the pet quite a bit, but it's often not a decision to do so. As a result, collars have come up in discussion a few times.

He has a collar, but unfortunately it has pretty sizable spikes, which most places around us will confiscate because it's a "weapon." (ugh) He also works at a junkyard and is in the military, so collars could get in the way of him doing work, plus having a collar that shows might be considered unprofessional. As such, we've agreed that we'll find something for him when we're together.

As for me, I'd like to have a constant reminder and I have a couple (one necklace I always wear, one ring), but nothing that's really a 'collar.' Since I work at JoAnn fabrics and my boss is pretty anal about details, if I can find a collar that's subtle enough and won't raise questions, then I'll wear that.

I don't wear my collar out on a regular basis. I pretty well reserve it for Furry activities and around the house. As far as needing a reminder, for me that's a no. I've been around for a little bit now and have had to leave loved ones behind for long periods of time (deployments). That said, I've gotten to wear I find physical reminders as more of a burden and a reminder of separation. Luckily, I come home to her every night so I don't have to worry about being apart too long anymore.

As far as Hyacinth's comment about a collar as a weapon, I've had that happen actually. My collar ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5369229/) has a few spikes as you can see. I walked into the Wal-Mart near my home in Atlanta and the greeter called Security to follow me. They informed me that my collar could be used as a weapon and so, I either had to take it to my car, leave, or hand it to them until I left. I decided to toss it in my car, continue shopping and go about my day. Most places, however, have either not cared or even had employees that thought it was awesome and asked for the story. A guy at the Family Dollar next to where I used to live in Savannah started wearing one after I explained it to him.

I wear my collar all the time :3 my master enforces it. I enjoy it completely and some people stare at me but I'm handicapped so they stare anyway. Mine as well give them something interesting to look at. Also likes it when I attach my leash to it and hook it to my jeans or something, mostly for symbolism that I'm his. We like our physical bond but he's helped me with my family problems

My mate isn't the dominant type but I consider her my master since I feel very much so like a pet. And I probably wouldn't be with her if she & I didn't have a good physical bond. I have to get a new collar, which I will wear at all times upon moving out of my house. Except during showers and when I'm trying to sleep while sick. Collars are very important to me and I don't feel right without one.

I wear my collar every chance I'd get, in fact I'm wearing it right now. Exactly like fleabeast, it makes me feel secure and helps me cope with my extremely bad anxiety. I don't wear it out in public, though if I could I would, but my grandparents would have a conniption if I wore it around the house when they're home let alone out in public. I probably would only take it off in the shower if I could.

I want to say I really love to wear my collar, especially for my Master if he wishes.
I did wear it also some years in school, locked with they key at home but now at work thats not possible.
