Settling for what I'm doing. We all have a magical thought of what our desired job when we're little. I always thought being a vet would be easy. I can't even become a vet. And I thought that being a vet meant cuddling with animals all day, the animals just sit there and don't bite and that I would be able to read their minds. That's not the case. I'm just a tech now and believe it or not, the work is actually more what I imagined when I was younger but the doggies and kitties don't sit there and let you do stuff, I can't read minds and it's not always just about the animal.

mmm, well, I would be retired by now and really, honestly, not much different since half that life is spent in school and I have lived my life decently well.

More work that I enjoy, for sure. Like, I can't do routine medicine. I love emergency way too much. I mean, I worked routine for a few months and it was horrible. There were 5 techs on at once for the 10 hour open period. It was boring when there was nothing to do. And when there was something to do (5 surgeries , appointment log booked and one walk in comes in) it was a mass freak out and it was ridiculous. We had one parvo and one dehydrated something and OMG it's BUSY! Seriously, try a DKA, FB, parvo and kidney cat in hospital with you as the only tech. And seriously, it does not take half an hour to do a TPR and give 2 meds IV. It should take 10 minutes.

More work that I enjoy, for sure. Like, I can't do routine medicine. I love emergency way too much. I mean, I worked routine for a few months and it was horrible. There were 5 techs on at once for the 10 hour open period. It was boring when there was nothing to do. And when there was something to do (5 surgeries , appointment log booked and one walk in comes in) it was a mass freak out and it was ridiculous. We had one parvo and one dehydrated something and OMG it's BUSY! Seriously, try a DKA, FB, parvo and kidney cat in hospital with you as the only tech. And seriously, it does not take half an hour to do a TPR and give 2 meds IV. It should take 10 minutes.
