A Heavy Loss

On Saturday night, me and the rest of my family lost someone very dear to us. My grandfather at the age of 82 passed away.
To give you a small insight into the type of person he was, he was a fighter, more stubborn than anyone I ever knew, he wouldn't accept defeat without at least putting up a fight. He did just that, he fought on long and hard to the very end. He was also an engineer at Aerospace, so he was also very smart in the books and at life until he started coming down with Alzheimer's. He eventually came down with the stomach flue, came out of that, then pneumonia struck. At that point, if he were to recover, he would be bed-bound for the rest of his life, completely unaware of his surroundings, a vegetable. When he still had a functioning brain he said that he didn't want to end up like that, so we fulfilled his wish of not ending up like that. So on that Saturday night, he departed from this world. When I said my last goodbyes, it was there it hit me how much I'm going to miss him.
Grandpa Dave, may you rest in peace, I will miss you.

We are trying to cope, but there is only so much you can do.
I'll keep your offer in mind, thank you again.
