This is one of the reasons I support Ron Paul. He supports simply putting it to a vote, and if the people want it, the people will have it.

I dont't really agree with putting it to a vote, civil rights never should be. If civil rights in the past were ever put to a vote they never would have succeeded. The numbers are actually quite frightening when it comes to things like this. Like did you know back in the 1990's 40% of americans were against interracial marriage? 40 percent! That's ludicrous but now imagine the 1960's. We're a minority so our voice is the quietest , so having the majority vote on the minority's issue isn't fair in the least.

True, however in a recent poll I read only about 49% of America was against gay relationships. This percentage is expected to shrink even more.

They are not in the minority anymore.

I meant gay's are in the minority not the support for lgbt. Plus voting on civil rights is just wrong on principal. But that's just my opinion.

Civil liberties should never be put to a popular vote... replace the word gay with any other word,, like white, black, fat, skinny, blue-eyed, catholic, Asian, heterosexual, etc etc.. just being different doesnt make it wrong.. if it involves consensual adults who are harming no one else.. what does it matter??

The problem with that is that, if enough people decide they DON'T want the gay couple down the street to get married, they'll get their way on that as well.

And this, class, is why we don't put my rights on a ballot someone else can cast.

Well thankfully they're actually going too far for there own good at this point. A lot of the younger generation is waking up from this ultra religious spell the US has been under just due to the incredible claims the religious right are making. Santorum himself is worried about it, that's why he's calling College and higher learning a bad thing lol.

I agree. Hopefully I'm not wrong in thinking that they are getting so carried away that people are starting to think these guys are clowns.
