Question being, do you like being up close and personal and do you want speed and maneuverability or do you want slow pace and power

i personally prefer a sword or spear and an armlet, but for a big strong man like you id reccomend a claymore.

the problem is trying to find a weapon that doesn't seem to cliche, while not being too outlandish for an elephant to wield

with armor only on your dominant side, extending up the arm to end at the shoulder

A large battlehammer, and some basic plating on your arms, legs, and head.

A short, flangy mace that your massive wrists let you flip about like a feather to smash through the armor of other macros with ease.
