y people no spend 5 minutes researching
it really does look like they a rejust a bunch of rich white kids who want to emerge as "the saviors of uganda" even though the conflict they want to resolve is pretty much over already...

Awareness-raising and the associated costs are VITAL to this cause. If the people who can help don't know, then there's no way that change can be made.
Please stop attacking this organization, Skittle.
and you know what their government and army also do? they murder gay people. for being gay. i cant support that bullshit!
summary of what they really do with the money.
So no, the Ugandan government/military at present does not have a policy of killing gays. In fact, if the bill ever DID make it out of committee (which is unlikely), President Mouseveni would probably veto it anyway to abate backlash against it. Thank God, because a bill like that is ridiculous.
I think you should acquaint yourself with the actual numbers before you just copy and paste what other people say about things. If you actually look at their financials, none of their money actually goes to the Ugandan military.
Kony is no longer a problem. He's not even in Uganda.
Most of this money doesn't even go to the cause.
And as for the statement about Kony not being the head of the LRA anymore: That is absolutely false. The whole organization centers around him and his personality cult. You don't have the LRA sans-Kony.
And about the issue you raise about the money- It is not wasted. Almost all the funds they raise go towards helping free the child soldiers and making Central Africa safer. One way IC does this is by raising awareness. If nobody knows about the conflict, nothing will be done about it. A bunch of kids can't go into Africa and take down a rebel leader. It takes building awareness campaigns, lobbying influential leaders, and a lot of transatlantic plane tickets.
Is this money wasted? No. If it was not spend, this movement would not be able to happen.
Is this a scam? Absolutely not. It's a valiant, just effort that has the potential to bring HOPE to a region that has seen so much violence and devastation for so long.
Their finances are out on the open. Most of it goes towards things other than the cause. It's good on them for raising awareness of the issue however, their facts are all wrong. This was all filmed in 2003, Kony has left Uganda in 2006. They are focusing on Uganda and saying he is still there, having this massive influence, etc. He's not. He has as much power as Sadam did while in hiding, aka null.
Yes, Kony did leave Northern Uganda in 2003. Uganda is a much safer place without the LRA there, however- saying that the LRA does not have power in their current state is an all out falsehood. Massacres and abduction missions are still being carried out by Kony's forces. Just because he is in a different physical place does not mean that he is not committing crimes. Around 10:00pm this monday, a group of LRA members attacked and looted 3 homes near Bangadi, DRC, and abducted a woman.
He is still committing crimes. Children are still being abducted, raped, mutilated, and killed. Villages are being torn apart. Families are separated forever. An entire population lives in fear.
Joseph Kony's influence in the region has far from waned. That's the whole reason the LRA Crisis Tracker was instituted late last year. Please, please, please get your facts straight before attempting to argue something like this. There are lives at stake.
1) The low transparency rating
2) The refusal to act with the BBB
3) This accusation of fraud:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/22/fraud-in-facebookchase-co_n_433928.html
4) The fact that the people in charge are lining their pockets with $90,000 a year. Non-profit means well...NON-PROFIT
5) The direct support of the Uganda government which supports the murder of gays, 'witches' atheists, etc. Whose army is also guilty of the vary things Kony is being charged for.
