SHOUT OUTS AT A GLANCE
temrin - You're an awesome table partner! Thanks for keeping me on your toes and being the usual bundle of joy you are
onnanoko - Was a nice surprise to see you next to us! I'm looking forward to more dealer's dens with you at future cons. Rainfurrest is a go!
soulscape - Glad to see you around! I've missed you dearly since the move. You are such a sweetheart going out and grabbing lunch for us!
hexv - Food runner #2. Puncher of Tyrannosaurs , rider of bears.
:mystiqe: - Thanks for popping your head by every so often! Sorry for not visiting near as much, but I really enjoyed talking to you and your table buddy about the webcomic.
MurphyErasmus - Did you do anything at the con besides visit us!? You are adorable! You inspire me in weird ways. You and Britt need to get some sort of table or art showcasing done in the future! Do it!
maxcoyote - Thanks for introducing me to your washington friends, and keeping me company the first day!
haemish - Thanks for all the room invites! I feel like a stupid, old man for not going to half of them due to lack of sleep. I'll promise to sleep more prior to cons so I can stay up later and booze it up with you and the gang.
jacq - Random, drunken coyote madness
doc-mcdowell - I often wonder if you and I are of few who can still talk philosophy and botany while tipsy...
silverrwolfe - I think we have too many inside jokes, haha!
Eikthyrnir - You give amazing back massages! I'm really looking forward to you visiting and joining us on our biking trips.
talryk - You mix amazing drinks. And if there was anyone who could get me into MLP, it would be you. Well... maybe Haemish more... but still.
e1000basetx Thanks for inviting me with your buddies to room parties, hot tubs, and other events. Sorry I missed out, Saturday was a sleepy, blurry day for me on the most part. Your suit is adorable! I'd love to talk more on your commission later.
razzylee - You're such a lively person! Please don't change who you are. You're so much fun to be around.
daiquiri - Thanks for letting me crash in your room the first night. I was so exhausted I couldn't get home x_x We need to do drinks more often.
sepiaa - You were always a short bump away it seemed! If you weren't dancing with me, we were chilling and sipping drinks in the hotel room parties. Really enjoyed!
fatigue - Thanks for the wonderful surprise badge! I'm surprised yours stayed on so long. I'm happy your first con resulted in you not sleeping for 24 hours! I hear you owned everyone in the games room. Thanks for stopping by my table every couple hours to check up on me.
hammytoy &
hammy - Apologies for not being around too much. I was only in the games room a couple short breaks after the dealer's den closed. I'll swing by later this week and we can chill.
matrices - You are friggin adorable in any one of your suits you put on. Thanks for the company during the drawing session outside the dance floor. I hope you liked all the silly felt marker doodles. Would you believe I didn't even know it was you in the Mukilteo suit till near the end?
apoxon - If I got a tattoo design, you'd be the person I'd go to. Your tribal-esque designs completely took me by surprise. I had no idea they were so charming!
mediar - Thanks for running the dealers den as smooth as possible and giving so much to the con. I feel bad I missed you singing the drunken Donkey song. Twice.
aphinity - Your contributions to conventions never fail to amaze me, and VancouFur is no exception. Thank you so much for bringing this to where it is now. We're all glad to have you aboard and living in Vancouver.
1) DEALERS DEN
Dealers Den was amazing this year! Shared a table with Temrin this year, who turned out to be such a bundle of joy. I was surprised to be sitting at the next table to Onnanoko who I didn't even know was coming. I was super glad to have you, Anatawabakadesu and Colin join us all for dinner amidst White Spot onion and gas fireplace fumes. Maybe it was the wine... I don't know.
Big thanks to Soulscape and Hex for guarding our table from time to time and bringing food and drinks, cuz Temrin and I can get too caught up in our work and temporarily forget how to do basic functions, like eating, or sometimes breathing.
I'm glad I forced myself to get up and about the Dealer's area this con. I got some time free to visit :mystiqe at her table and get some nice advice and in-depth talks on webcomics, and scribbling all the sharpie post-its at the Kitty Loves Monster table.
This year's turnout in the dealers really exceeded my expectations! I was worried there would be too many locals who already had art or grew accustomed to my pictures, but I was able to sell quite a bit more then I was expecting! Big shout out to all those who bought prints and/or commissioned badges and sketches from me: Neox, Uno, Yuro, Zale, Kiki, Teivel, Trapa, Psyrus, Void, Whitefoot, Zen, Shen, ScottTiger, Kara, Dizzy, Rufus, DarkenWolf, Emcew, Seindrache, Coal, Cal Kina, Artimis, and Matrices (sorry if I'm missing a few...)
Also, thanks to those for supporting and checking out my new webcomic, Plaid Coyote www.plaidcoyote.com It makes me happy you enjoy the type of humor. Thanks for suggestions and funny future ideas to come! Stay tuned for more to come, once every two weeks!
2) DANCE
Was able to dance for several hours straight on Friday and Saturday night. I ruined my good pair of dance shoes, completely wore out the area under the toes. Dancing nonstop really wore out my lower back.
All the dances were amazing! Kudos to the DJs I stuck around for the two nights, you all did such a wonderful job at setting the mood. I'd like to shout out to Ember, as this was his first con DJ-ing. I was -very- impressed with your lineup.
Dancing in a circle with Temrin, Zee, Hex, Soulscape, and a few others for an hour was fun. I made a complete fool of myself mucking up a dance move and landing with my ass on the floor. It was pretty funny.
Thanks for the company during most of the dances Whitefoot, Haemish, Jacq, and Eikthyrnir! Matrices, you were so adorable in your Mukilteo suit outside! I'm glad you liked my silly, late night scribbles in the giant artbook.
3) FRIENDS
Once again, thanks so much to those who kept me company in the dealer's den Temrin, Onnanoko, Soulscape, Sepiaa etc.
Big shout out to the Washington crowd, especially Maxcoyote for introducing me to his group: Talryk, Pike, Razzy, Madelin, and Kooza (I know I'm forgetting a couple)
Thanks for tagging along Fatigue, Hammy: and Hammytoy. I'm really sorry I wasn't able to stick in the gamers room and draw with you longer. I was completely in commission mode during the afternoon stretches. I'll stop by later this week and catch up with you three.
Haemish, Jacq, Doc, Eikthyrnir and SilverRWolfe you five rock! I'll remember to get decent sleep BEFORE a con for once and put in more time in your room parties. I might also have to request more back massages from Eik. Maybe.
I definitely know I'm missing WAY more people, but I'm going on low amounts of sleep and a few of the events are blurred. So please forgive me if you're not on this list here. I really appreciate the time everyone took to talk with me, commission art, support and promote my work. Keep being awesome!
4) CONBOOK COVER
Whether old or new news, Apoxon, Temrin, Soulscape and I worked together for the conbook cover this year. It was a good week of rushing and many messages back and forth, but it was super fun to do. We seem to like it, and from the response I was hearing many others seemed to as well. Thanks Thumper for the wonderful compliment. The final framed piece with the four different colored badges turned out amazing. Thanks Aphinity for including me and the girls for our work, and to Tony Greyfox for printing them out.
5) TO STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS
I think I speak for many others when I say the convention exceeded all expectations, mine included. Considering it being a first-year con, things ran very smooth. With the exception of reg hiccuping time to time the first day, this was nothing compared to the rest of it. Mediar and Apoxon, I really enjoyed how you organized the dealer's room and informed us of important announcements.
Torwin, Akonite and others, thanks helping make the dance area so fun to be in, including lighting/sound/equipment. Ember, you're doing a really great job. I can't believe that was your first DJ event. Keep striving and learning the ropes and you'll go far.
Vancouver has been in need of a con for a very long time. Since joining the local crowd in 2004 I'm so happy to see something like this finally happen. After seeing so many pour their time into this, it makes me glad to be in this city with so many passionate people. Being here to see us go into next year makes me giddy.
6) FINAL COMMENTS
Thanks for reading this far everyone!
I'll be finishing up a batch of take home commissions this week and next, so if I owe you a badge, please let me know by sending a note or letting me know. I have everyone's contact information, so we're good for now.
Otherwise, expect to have your badges mailed out by next week. I'll wait until I have them all done and mail them out in one batch. Thanks for your patience and to those who've already passed on their contact information, you make my job much easier!
Gonna make it an early night for myself tonight. Back to doing taxes and other things I've neglected the past two weeks preparing for this convention.
Peace out!
