Baklawa Doom (new album)
General
If anyone's interested, I have just released by eighth album of bizarre progressive rock type stuff, 'Baklawa Doom'.
As usual, demos of some tracks were previously published on FA and the like, though I have been holding the first side of the album fairly close to my chest.
The album itself can be had here:

It is also on Jamendo here:
http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/108225
In summary, tracks 1-4 are a particularly twisted vision of the end of the world and form the first 'side' of the album (i.e. a single 30-minute reel which would be the 'A' side if it was on vinyl).
The rest of the album is a collection of other songs. 'Heaven's Army' is inspired by the webcomic B.I.B.L.E. (see below). 'How to build a sundial' is the extended instrumental track, and last but not least, we have 'Song of Keaton', the condensed life story of Sunblink's evil jackal succubus.
Thanks to
nyil for his awesome cover art:

Thanks also to
turnsky for the logo,
siegfriednox,
sunblink,
wuffnpuff and company for their moral support and proof listening. Mastering was done once again by Alex Balzama at Swift Audio Solutions, London.
As usual I'm going to try and get a short run of CDs pressed to bring to Anthrocon.
Oh, and thanks also to
swanda and
thescatterbrain for their comic, 'Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth' which inspired the track 'Heaven's Army'.

The synth-sound of the brief melody that comes in at about 1:42 (and again at 4:48) in "Heaven's Army" is a wonderful sound which reminds me of some late 70s and early 80s synth-music. It fits so well in with the rest of the production and sound, and it is so immensely beautiful.
The lyrics are humourous in a good way, and many lines have me smiling or chuckling. It's great. It's a bit difficult to make sense of the entire thing, though. I cannot figure out how "Heaven's Army" and "Song of Keaton" are connected to "Baklawa Doom" 1-4. Or are they not meant to be connected? Then that might be an explanation for why I cannot figure it out. *grins*
Anyway, really great album. I am going to keep listening to it, and I will eventually go through all your other albums as well.
I should probably have put the description in the journal (I have just edited it to add that).
There are actually two sounds in Heaven's Army at that point, a growling bass sound (filter sweep on the Waldorf Pulse), and the flute-like sound which is a sawtooth patch created on the Waldorf microWave and played on two notes an octave apart.
Thanks for your comments!
