so a thought occured to me whilst i was on the bog, how countries like the uk , eu countries, and so on, have being doing alot of commerative coiange over the years, and how this year you have the olympics and all that, and theyve done quite a few series for different ideas...
then the thought popped up that they havent done anything that celebrates the 200th anniversay of the wars of 1812, representing two pivitol points in history...namely the disatourous napoleonic invasion of russia (which lead to french defeat and the turning point in the napoleonic wars) and the british-american war of 1812 (technically 1812-15, with sporadic fighting, but that doesnt have the same ring to it)
it seems to me that they should have done a 200th anniversay coin/s of those events (mabye a 1812 overture one too), cos weve done coronation anniversaires, deaths, historical events, stupid sporting crap, and so on...
wouldve being nice to see this lot inlcuded too (if i had the money id have gotten them done myself via private minting with other stuff...actually thought of a couple good ideas like a representation of paintings like "the fire of moscow","in 1812" by illarion pryanishnikov, or napoleons retreat by adolph northern...or having the burning of washington on one (i know it happened in 1814, but its called the war of 1812 so...eh), mabye even the battle of baltimore (which lead to the star spangled banner anthem)...or mabye have some musical notes on bimetal representing 1812 overture...stuff like that pops into my head alot), but yea...just my thoughts on a missed out chance for collectors in numenastics, and history buffs the world over

I would agree that it would be a great coin series. The War of 1812 could be celebrated with a coin for every major event in the war with minting exactly 200 years after it happened. For example the Presidents Mansion (later called white house) burning could be minted in 2014. They did it for Lewis and Clark.
if i can someday, with my own coin series, id love to get a atist that would be able to whip something like that up...the obverse and reverse die designs
so realisiticly, if the war never happened, then that period mightve taken longer or not happened at all (given boths sides wanting the same places in the 19th centuary)...so your point is mute....plus modern politicians are doing enough to fuck up relations anyways, so again...mute point
plus both sides have doen coinage on the american revolution, the civil war and slave trade in commemoration of when the ended or started...there have beign dumber things on coins than what i suggested...plus im not restricting it to jsut us/uk coinage...the napoleonic wars couldve also being done too
