yeah the sad truth. if you don't put up mediocre porn, your general work has to be extraordinarily good : /. I notice that on the places where I put clean stuff up. DA was a big fat bust for me. : / total of 10 view and 14 watchers on my longest account. and Nabyn seems to be going that way as well. hope you just take away that every fan isn't looking just because you put up jerk off material like I'm sure they do me x.x. maybe try doing comissions and advertising iron artist?

I keep a clean page around too... it's kind of a ghost town on DA if you wanna be noticed without resorting to mountains of fanart or psuedo porn.

Don't worry so much about the numbers. You're fine where you are making good art.

A lot of those people with lots of views have specific reasons why. Like someone else has said, porn(no matter how badly drawn) gets attention. So does fanart of something popular at the moment or something with a rabid fanbase. That or something niche like the fetishes or something seems to bring folk in, but doesn't keep them.

Trust me, you're fine the way ya are. The hustling thing couldn't hurt though. But I have to ask this:

Why do you want more people to look at your stuff? More feedback? Or is it something else?

Because if you want more feedback or critique or folks to bounce ideas off of, I'd say you have a good chunk of watchers for that and other artists out there who like your stuff enough to maybe reach out to you. Idunno. Open a bigger line of communication like a formspring or something and you may get what you want. You might be more popular than you think and the audience just isn't speaking enough.

and the reason why is to live off of what i make as in comics and commissions, thow ots hard to do them when my #'s are low and so i have to post every day to get more watcher and when it keep at at a high of preveiws i can work on my stuff with out posting for days know when i do i will have 100's or 1000's waiting for my next pice or when my comic come out, so when that happens my porjects will be slow till then.

besides that i dont really know other ways besides drawling porn. i try to keep most of my stuff clean because i dont really want to be a pron artist. even though just like you i wish to be viewed more, just for different reasons

I'm not far off from 30K myself. But you better believe that I busted my ass for that number (yes I draw pron so I got there faster than if I did clean work only). The fact that you have fewer hits than me, but higher quailty work is wrong. Someone like you deserves to be noticed for what you draw and what you create. Seriously, if I had the skill you do when it came to manga and kemono, I prolly would be able to improve my own crappy work and be able to come up with new stuff.

Also, it's been said, but don't go the porn route, that's just a cheap way to the top and then you'll only be noticed for it.

Also, you should do trades or something like that. Having people draw your characters is a great way to get noticed and it's benificial for both you and the person you are trading with.

Another reason (other then porn) is meeting people at cons or local meets. I don't draw and no one really looked at my writing but once I got into a local group and attended a couple cons my watchers jumped from almost none to 101. Your numbers will get high cause you are a splendid artist, just gotta keep at it. I think you should keep doing clean art cause there's too many artists that just sell out and draw porn for popularity. I like to see people get well known from clean art.

I know how you feel, not being noticed by others and not being popular. I am also sad because tomorrow is my birthday and I have no idea if I am even gonna get a single birthbday picture, and that is the only thing I want for my 18th birthday. Hey i know what you mean man!!! Its not always porn either!!! Some of the people on DA have like mass popularity and they dont draw porn!! But yet some of them arent really that good of artists!!! Ive even tryed Getting in lots of goups and that dosent even do much!!!!! And porn is all cool and stuff but like lots of other people commented, YOu dont have to do porn (you even sid you cant yourself but yea lol XDD) And i almost feel if porn is what you need to draw to get popular then that is so sad!!! Even the people that suck draw porn and get popular!!!! that just means the majority of the people on these sites are losing what good art is!!!!!! A DRAWING OF A DICK OR VAG is not artistc compared to a birds eye view with some fish eye lens in there!!! And porn and taste full nud drawings are alot different from each other. Nodity draws watchers and views. And as many others have said, porn. But, you do not have to draw things that are hardcore porn. You alredy have an amazing level of skill. Draw tasteful nudity. Drawings that shows sheaths or naked bodies, but it does not necessary have to be sex. A naked body is something beautiful, and it can be art.
Take for example, draw a few furries laying in the grass, naked. They just lay there looking at the sky, talking, laughing and imagening what mysteries might be hiding over the clouds. And you make sure their private parts are showing, but not erect. People like these things, and it will give you more views. And you will ceep your page clean, because it wont be porn. it will beautiful art.

Heck your lucky to even have so many watchers. >.> I mean seriously. A lot of people have issues getting up even as high up in watchers as you are. Heck my mate does excellent work and is having trouble getting watchers. She is even trying the adoptables thing and everything. Hell even discounts and shes having trouble getting viewers and things going. I wouldn't feel bad if I were and I would seriously stick to clean art and just use your crisp talent to make in influence into that movement.

I agree with the poster above me, you're lucky you have so many watchers already! I have less than 300 on FA and that number is just barely crawling up V___V. And I let people submit their commissioned pics in their gallery.
One thing I did notice but don't use as much as I should is that it's best to submit new art during peak hours around 7-9pm Eastern time so more people see it on the front page. Art trades could work too.

You could do commissions.. some people get noticed that way

There are certainly a lot of different variables in getting noticed on the net.

I'm in your same boat. I've improved phenomenally as an artist in the past 5 years, but popularity definitely doesn't follow the same curve.

As you've said, there are artists with basically crap that get a ton of attention. At the same time, I've seen RIDICULOUSLY GOOD artists (Industry professionals and such) with absolutely no attention.

Interacting with your community is key. I'm not entirely too sure if that means answer to every comment - or perhaps making journals often/talking with people/meeting others, commenting often on other people's work etc/favoriting/watching etc.

Being consistent is also key. Posting works every so often doesn't work out so well. Posting at least SOMETHING every day will probably get you a more consistent audience.

Subject matter is always important. I personally enjoy actually LOOKING at an image. Character pinups are awesome and all, but I appreciate narratives in a piece. (This isn't a critique on you). However I notice character pinups seem to get even more views than good art more often than not. laaawl.

It's really weird, I can't explain it - and I'm not experienced enough to really know what the general audience likes. People don't know enough about art etiquette to care about it - Which is sad really, no one knows what they're really missing out on.

Character design/themes also seems to be another important thing. Obviously fan-art and the like get a ton of attention. But if you are consistent with your characters/subject matter you'll eventually have your own little thing going. You're doing a great job at this with your characters. I just think you might need to simplify them down a bit more. Really make them a SOLID character. Think of the iconic characters we have now-a-days, Mickey Mouse/Mario/Pikachu etc. It'd be worth screwing around with at least :)

I personally really like what you have going on. I think you should mainly just worry about improving (not that you're bad. Every artist needs to improve.) The attention will come in time. You'll do something amazing, everyone will notice it, and the love will come. Of course, in order for you to improve/do something amazing, that would mean you need to start adding variety the the things you're doing. Go outside your box. Try a graphic approach. Try elegant/designy. Try messy/loud.

I understand wanting to be internet-famous as a source of income. But it's not that easy. There are a lot of unknown variables and LUCK is just one of those things too. Get a side job if you have to. But i suggest just keep doing what you love. Trust me, it SHOWS in your artwork when you love what you're doing. Any trained artist can see it on the spot, the general audience notice it too, they just can't explain it.

Collabs/free art/art trades too. But who really has time for those x_x

Every think of Comissions? Even just clean ones?

I am not huge DA expert, I swooped up my pageviews with the account I now have there, although from what I heard, you should try subscribing to as many groups as possible. This will help you and your art get seen more. Besides that place art moves so fast, people miss great artist like, but I am sure once they start noticing you more, the turnout will be great, just give it time ^^

For some people, porn works, for others, not so much

The best way to get noticed probably is to do some trades, commissions, and I hate to say it, but requests

It's not bad to do art for yourself, but the thing is, you are only advertising yourself. You need to give people the opportunity to advertise you, such as

They only drew one commission for me, and then got a surge of notice from people who watched me

Other than **teh pr0nz1!!1!**, doing lot's of streams, gift art, art trades, collabs [iScribble, OpenCanvas sessions, the list goes on...], requests, etc, etc, will definitely garner you some attention.

If someone asks for advice, feedback, or critique, give it to them.

Pop into other people's streams, you'll never know where your next request will come from.

Many artists basically 'bribe' people to pimp the artist's profiles in exchange for raffles/free art, where the returns and opportunities will grow exponentially as you gain more exposure.

But really, at the end of the day, regardless of whether you're making decent money off your art or not, pageviews/watchers =/= a ranking, and never will be.

To be completely honest I envy your skills, and I don't see anything apparent you should be worried about. Just keep up the good work.
