Hello folks,
It's time once again after alot of things going back and forth with a story.
It has come to my attention from one of our newest members who is an active member of the marines. As a supporter of the marines, me and Steven will have to give him the spotlight for this entry. Go ahead
nalz, say what you my friend.
I've got a few stories.
Right now I'm currently deployed to Afghanistan. I'd smoked a few times in the past, mostly at parties and with alcohol. My first cigar was an ACID, a Kuba Kuba, I think. Anyway, once we came out to the sandbox we needed something to kick back and relax with. So myself and three others started getting into cigars. This led about four more people, at least, to start smoking. We like to joke that any time cigarsinternational.com sees our address out here they get excited because we spend so much money on them.
Now we needed some place to smoke, once it started getting cold, that allowed us to stay warm and comfortable. So we built a smoke pit. Some HESCO barrier, 2x4s, ply wood, safety wire and roofing later we had a, mostly, waterproof smoke pit. There were about three versions before we got to where we are now, each one needing improvement. Mostly because the roof leaked and ruined our Spades playing table. Once it was built we put in two arctic rated, diesel burning heaters and we were set.
It is practically a daily ritual that we smoke and play Spades after work. We have room for about 8 with seats inside and a large table we built for the cards. Had to scrounge some sandpaper to make it a proper card playing table. Unfortunately, there is no felt in this country to make it legit.
Over time we've added ash trays. Some purchased from the local bazaar shops (for way too much money) and some that we got online.
I have 3 humidors myself but one of them doesn't hold humidity above 59%, unfortunately. That one is also the Armada humidor that you get when you order the $500 Man 'O War Armada chest. Yes, we got one and split it 4 ways. It took 2 months to get, due to back order, over the Christmas season. It was a glorious day when it arrived! One of my humidors was given to me by another fur that's out here. Said he was quitting smoking. More for me! Thing was full of dozens of different Gurkha's and other things. It had at least 40 cigars in it.
So far, in 4 months, I would say I have spent, at minimum, $600 on cigars and cigar related ephemera.
If you have ever seen the Drew Estate Egg (Look it up if you haven't) the smoke pit also held the inaugural smoking of the cigar by myself. Smoked the entire thing in an hour and a half without ashing until I couldn't even hold the thing anymore. It wasn't even half bad of a smoke!
Normally I just go with sampler packs so that way I get to sample lots of cigars without spending a lot of money. However, I will smoke anything Drew Estate and most likely enjoy it. I have tried almost every ACID cigar there is. So far I would say my favorite Drew Estate is the Java Mint. That thing was delicious! First inch felt like having a breath mint in your mouth while sucking on a chocolate truffle. NUBs are also a favorite of mine, including the Cain NUBs. Recently smoke a Cain NUB F (Ligero) and that thing was strong!
For a while I was keeping a spreadsheet of all the cigars I've smoked, comments on them and a little 1-10 rating system. I stopped updating it a while ago, however.
Phew, I think that's all I got for now.
That's all we needed to hear. Good job soldier. *salutes*
Keep up the good fight good sir.
If you guys have a story, please let us know. Note us.
