Reboot
Well, my life reboot is almost finished. It has left me rather busy the past year, which is part of the reason I haven’t been online much. Hoping to change that in the future. Yes, I know I say that every so often and nothing changes, but I want to keep more in touch with people and maybe meet some new people too. So what have I been doing?
I decided a while ago that my design job just wasn’t cutting it in the money department. There are other factors too. My current job changed its focus from quality to speed. There are a favored few who can do both, but I’m not really one of them, which leads them to constantly lean on me about my production levels. They have also had some layoffs and I haven’t had a raise in few years. It’s a struggling market. I know a lot of people are going through this right now, but let’s look forward instead of backward.
So early this year I started taking classes in HVAC/R, which I’ve really been enjoying. I have no problem working with my hands, and I like building stuff. It also looks like it has more of a future than my current job. So watch out, I have blowtorch experience now! (Achievement) Now, I just need to get over the classic new job paradox, where all the jobs are for people with experience. I’ll keep looking, and hoping I get a nibble at some point.
As for art, I’ve mainly been working on my inking as of late. It also neat working on one thing in art helps other things. Inking has been slowly teaching me line confidence and how to steady my hand. I’m by no means perfect in these areas, but I’m seeing some progress, but I need to start setting aside more time. If you wonder why you haven't seen them it's because they are mainly other artists linework or sketches. I use them to learn different line styles.
