NaNo Novel: Here Falls The Thunder

Honestly? I'm not surprised. This would be the...third time! They've used a planet description as a plot point.
1) Klendagon: The site where the Mass Effect Canon turned the Reaper Corpse in ME2 from a Reaper into slag
2) "The Leviathan of Dis": Referenced in ME3 as a Reaper corpse the batarians stole for research, which lead to the fall of their civilization.
I'm surprised I didn't catch this sooner, and honestly, this is exactly what we need. There's plenty of ways to describe or explain the Catalyst without giving away specifically what it is, and would be an excellent way to provide the context we need (since really, the Catalyst wasn't a bad idea, he was just presented very poorly and without any solid explanation for it's existence.)
My prediction: Shepard will get a lead from Liara to investigate the planet. Either the Volus merchant and his private army will be dead (slagged by the Reapers) or you'll have to fight them. Either way, you find the "crypt" where you'll learn about the race that existed before the first Cycle, and get hints as to the creation/existence of the Catalyst, as well as some background information which explains why the Catalyst follows it's particular brand of logic. There may be a weapon or War Asset as a reward for completion of the mission.
Of course, this COULD be just a red herring, but it would be a mighty big one if it was.
