Honestly i think the guys who write AI for bots are getting bored, they must sit in their offices/desks or on top of their desks flicking paperclips at the invisble man, that follows them around telling them to wear pants on their head while thinking "you know what i think bots need to be able to look at walls and maybe just fail at everything in the game that a five year would be able to work out"
Because i've played around 3 hours of this game, and while im loving the story and the gameplay and the way your character interacts with the enviroment to mow down hordes of the undead with a pea shooter for a gun, i find that my AI 'elite swat team' have the intelligence of a sheep thats had its brains bashed in with a brick. They stand close enough to you that the aiming over the shoulder is obstructed with their stupid face or shoulder. While trying to pick off a nasty bunch of the undead with a sniper rifle the AI will deem this action 'pointless' and try to tell you about your mistake by 'standing in front of your scope'
Now while the AI sometimes has the ability to help you see off the undead, they lack the very important brain cell that helps them understand when to pick up health, green herbs are dotted around the levels to help in your ability to recover health but the AI dosnt seem to like this 'easy option' there more hardcore than simply 'healing' and will often demonstrate this wish to be hardcore by wasting all the first aid spray the moment you stub your toe on one of the many awkwardly placed barries or steps that you can get caught on.
Now i can hear a lot of you yelling out "why not just team up with some other players online" and this is a valid and decent reason but it is also a valid and decent reason that the ganmeplay should be able to stand on its own two feet without having to rely on the online side. Why include bots at all if your going to be encouraged to simply team up with a bunch of players online. Maybe thats the reason the bots are this stupid, as they die to a single zombie again, or charge off headlong into a swarm of the undead fuckers wielding nothing but a knife and the last first aid spray, you'll be thinking to yourself "god i need to get online" maybe its the evil plan to force players online to simply escape the derpy AI team thats forced on you if you brave enough to say "no i dont feel like spending money on xbox live"
To round off this rant, that came to me after i had picked up my entire squad off the floor when they decided to take cover behind a petrol pump, the game is great, and i wouldnt want to put any of you off it, just make sure you get a group of you together first before deciding to tackle this game on any difficulty other than 'easy'

Haha, Out of all the mistakes made for a game it was the AI for single player! ^_^ Sounds quite funny but frustrating at the same time, I remember playing the 5th Resident Evil last night with my friend and I personally felt it was so slow and the stand-still + aim thing was a huge pain. Other than that it was allright, but I've heard good and bad things about this game and im not entirely convinced it's worth the money at the moment :D

Ah this game moves a lot faster, your actually able to move while aiming! What a treat, plus the inventory system is gone and the levels are both longer and creepier etc. In truth as long as you play with some friends i feel its a great game, i would rent it out first to get the feel for it.

That's fair enough, I thought it was a pain to actually select another weapon for the inventory whilst a zombie boss with a chainsaw came after you! I just think it was that little bit RPG in Resident evil you know that put me off a bit? Glad the levels are longer and creepier because I played like the first two levels and thought it was really repetitive ^^ I can't imagine playing a co-op based game on my own tbh :P
