I wish everyone would start accepting Amazon Payments. I even did a handy price comparison showing that the only reason for not accepting it is because of pure laziness- the costs are IDENTICAL to PayPal. http://imgur.com/a/ybFJC

There is no reason besides laziness why an artist can't accept payment via both methods and allow the buyer to choose which one they prefer to use.

It's because change is scurryyyy and if we use something else than no one will want to buy from us. (Yes even if they take both, it's sad)

I remember when Etsy first started up and I was putting all my stuff for sell on there and pointing people there to purchase my stuff and it was really difficult to get sells because buyers didn't want to take the time to sign up for an account just to buy something once. Now things are different and everyone and their mother knows about Etsy. So buyers are JUST as resistant to change as sellers.

Sorry, I read it as an assumption that artists assume no one will buy from them rather than it being a fear based on reality.

It's actually NOT out of laziness. Paypal is so commonplace in our day to day lives that it's actually difficult to just up and move to another form of payment. You might think it's lazy, but if 1 out of 50 people wants to use another online pay service, it's almost pointless to start another account you may only use once (especially if your next 1 out of 50 wants to use an entirely different service than the one before). I don't know if paypal is different now compared to what it was when I set up my account, but it took a few days to set up the account in order to be able to accept payments. I imagine it won't be much different for any other online pay service

Not wanting to do it solely because it "took a few days to set up" is the very definition of lazy. And I'm not talking about *moving* to another form of payment, I'm talking about offering both as options for the buyer to decide between.

No where in there did I say artists don't want to set up an entirely different pay system solely because of the set up time. And as I said to Shim, you can whine about artists being "lazy" but the buyers are just as, if not more so. It takes all of 5 minutes to set up an account on something like Etsy but as many times as I've heard "I'd buy something from you, but I don't want to deal with setting up an account on another website just to buy from you" when Etsy was a new thing. But now, like paypal, it has become so commonplace with artists and buyers, the problem is almost nonexistent.

And I'm sorry, I (and I'm certain many, many others) don't want my bank account information stored in multiple places online, especially places with direct access to withdrawing funds from your bank account without someone having to get your bank information.

Look, I'm not defending paypal. I actually hate it. Their rules are bizarre, they've screwed over charities multiple times, they block accounts at the drop of a hat, none of their employees seem to know what the rules actually are, they are not friendly towards commission payments, etc. People ARE finally getting this fact and things are going to eventually change. Paypal finally managed to earn itself a spot on the Consumerist's Worst Companies in America pole. But you need to give people time to figure it out rather than calling us lazy and being rude about it.

I think I'll just continue calling you lazy and reserving my money for those that are not. ^_^

Good luck with that. With an attitude like yours, you have a lot more to worry about than them not accepting anything but paypal.

What exactly do I have to worry about? Not getting art from people that only accept PayPal? That's something I'm choosing not to get. I really have no idea what you're on about now, unless you mean to threaten me? Awfully strange reason to threaten someone if you ask me.

No, you have an attitude of unnecessary aggression towards people you are making a broad generalization about without any reason other than a baseless assumption that makes you sound rather childish. There are plenty of artists (and many people in your day to day life) who wouldn't want to deal with a person like you based on your attitude alone. I've listed plenty of valid reasons why an artist would be reluctant to open up multiple accounts to accept online payments, and rather than take any into consideration, you instead go the route of "nope, I'm right, you're all lazy". You either need a severe reality check, or you need to grow up a little.

The biggest problem is that Amazon 100 percent requires Credit Cards, and Paypal does not.
