Have you ever moved to another country?
Hey everyone! So I have a bit of a weird question.
Have you ever (legally) moved to another country for permanent residence? If you've done so illegally, I don't want to know. I don't care, what you do is what you do. I'm not the police, and I don't want any hand in that.
But if you've moved legally from one country to another, how did you go about it? What kind of paperwork is needed? I'm sure a passport is important, but what about buying a one-way ticket and staying? Citizenship is a whole 'nother barrel of worms that I'm not looking into right now. Just the moving part.
If you've ever moved to another country, or know of someone that's moved to another country, PM me here? I'm looking specifically for USA to somewhere else, but ANY country to another country is fine with me. While looking on websites and Wikipedia is useful, personal stories can tell you more of what to be prepared for and how hard/easy it was. Person to person teaches you more than a website.
So anything you want to share would be most welcome!

Just noted you. I've studied in the UK and I know a little bit about emigrating to EU member countries.

Hmmm. You are US citizen so more advantage for you as some countries, especially European Countries, including EU will offer some priveledges to US citizen such as less documents to take care of, and some even offer interview-less admittance. But for a hassle-free service, hire an immigration attorney. I am a student migrating from indonesia to singapore, so maybe mine is different from yours, however the big picture is the same. Passport, Birth certificate, docs regarding career infos, and photo. Lots of em. Be sure that you photocopy lots of times to make sure that you have backup to your backup, etc. Actually there is a lot that i can tell you, but that's the essentials.
