I've had terrible art block for so long now, and whenever I try to make myself draw when I'm not feeling it, it ends up looking horrible! What do you do to inspire yourself?
The best way to get through an art block is to push through...I say that, but more often than I care to admit I find myself curled into a ball on the bed or on the couch wondering if I'm a bloody hack or not. All artists experience good days and bad ones too. There are times when your brain is brimming with ideas that you just can't get onto the paper fast enough, and other times when your mind seems like a barren wasteland.
But whether or not what you come up with ends up looking horrible, just keep scribbling. One day, when you're having one of those really good, productive days you might come back to that sketch, realize you had a good idea going and fix it so that it looks awesome!
Art blocks are stupid and they happen at the worst of times. But sitting there and letting it taunt you isn't going to make you feel any better. To the contrary, you'll feel /worse/ for giving up! Just keep scribbling...it'll pass eventually. Inspiration is a totally random, organic thing...there's nothing you can do to just inspire yourself whenever you want. If it were that easy being an artist would be easy too!
Inspiration is like love I guess...it comes when you least expect it and it hits you like a freight train. All you can do until it hits you is wait for it on the tracks. How do you get on the "art tracks"? Why, draw your brains out of course ;)!
