Any Georgia Furs?
Sometimes I wonder how many furries live in Georgia. In my area... not many I'm "guessing" but I figure near Atlanta there are probably a good bit. Hehehe, Lithonia doesn't really have much of anything I've found, or at least that I am aware of... or care enough to mention? I have been to a Fur convention a few years back in Atlanta, but I left there wondering, "How many people flew out of state to get here?" I was only there for one day, so I didn't get to research the matter much.
Whenever the subject of Furries/Anthro is discussed around me, the general response is usually mockery or people getting weirded out, or telling me some bizarre rumor-story they have heard about Furries. Then "I" end up get teased and try to change the subject. There is no point discussing things with someone when only ONE person is talking.
For me... I do realize that there are some extremes in the fandom, BUT isn't that true for just about everything? Sometimes it's hard for me to feel comfortable with my artwork where I live because I feel like I'm the only one who draws Anthro images "the animal-related variety" in my area, and everyone else around me just wants to make fun.
People laugh at me or give me weird looks when they find out I like characters with tails, pointed ears, horns, fur, etc, and wouldn't MIND if people in real life did have these things. They're like, "Whut?? You want people to be all HAIRY? You think that's HOT? You're weird, Liz."
What the fuck, man, leave me alone. I get sick of those responses. Even when I first started realizing I liked this community, the people I hung out with at the time had "SoOo~ much to say" about "Furries" and their "YIFFING" and many other of their other personal, negative opinions. It made me that much more insecure with myself because I kept finding myself seeking out the community and wanting to know more, and I kept on getting smacked verbally by people I knew.
Hehehe, I guess I just need to be more confident with myself and what I like. X-X Blargh, I can't type anymore. Today's Natalie's birthday and I'mma' go have some fun now :3 Maybe I'll type something a little later.

And trust me, there's much worse fandoms than furries.
I watch them very cautiously from the sidelines, but oy.
Harry Potter fans and the craziness that ensues...
"OMFG You like hetero pairings?!? You NAZI!"
