I consider both of you friends, and as such, I am going to post this exact same message on both of your journals.

I do not know the whole story, nor do I want to, as I really do not want to choose sides between either of you. As far as I am concerned, both of you are great guys that (as aforementioned) I consider friends, whom of which, I want to get to know a lot more, especially when we live in different countries.

I hope that the best can come from this situation, for both of you. As a friend, I am there for both of you regardless, and I hope you are able to appreciate my decision to not choose sides, if anything.

I also hope that the best option does not come down to shutting off from each other, I know exes who have gone down this path, and not only is it a far-from-pretty sight, it is extremely awkward for those who are friends with both partners concerned, especially when all parties happen to bump into each other at a con. I am within my right to advise both of you against going down that path, but I cannot truly stop either of you from doing so.

Either way, I wish to be there for both of you. Now, I am at a loss for words. :(

The issue being that we have a lot of friends in common, and where I try to just tell these people that this is a complicate matter, he just keeps talking about how everything is apparently my fault :/

I could easily talk about everything he's done to me, but after all the ranting he's done I am just happy to think it's the last time he's backstabbing me and I won't have to care anymore :3

You shouldn't need to go around touting your side of the story; if they really are fiends with both of you then what happens between you shouldn't effect that. If you need to compete with your ex for their friendship then they may not be friends worth having mate.
