I dont use any tricks but i often use the marker brush, watercolor and airbrush. SAIs blender is great.

For me it wasnt difficult to get used to. If youre new to the software them you will catch h on quick. Like what kind of coloring are you hoping to achieve in sai? Itz easy to do full coloring, sometimes i lay down just flats and transition between hues in overlapping and use either the factory set blender brush or my own made. Ive made one blender for my paint jobs which gives a more paintery smear than blurring.
