Volunteering in Fursuit?

Does anyone here do volunteer or charity work while in fursuit? Or maybe people ask to rent you for their kid's birthday parties? I'm curious, as it's something I'd like to pursue in the near future. I've lived in a family daycare/preschool my whole life, so I'm pretty good with kids if I don't say so myself ;). I've also done volunteer work in all kinds of places for years, but never as an entertainer. Anyway, I think it would be a really rewarding thing to get into eventually.

I really want to too. Unfortunatly I brought it up with the KYfurs once and got totally torn apart for even suggesting it. ( ) I havent done anything myself but I have seen people do zoo events and things I think.

That's kinda lame of the KYfurs, huh? I've browsed through the forums and haven't really found many local fursuiters or people I'd really want to get in contact with, save a few here and there. I go between here and Chicago so the LAFF is very active in meetups.

Yeah for the most part I stick to hanging out with a couple local friends. I stopped getting on ky because they were just mean. I mean we go to events in suit but we aren't part of the event per say. Here in Louisville we just hang out and go wandering in suits hah. It sucks because I can't get anyone interested in voulenteer work. Sad face :(

Well, to get the ball rolling I sent an inquiry to the Lexington Humane Society, since I know they're involved with a lot of local charity events, and having a canine suit is kinda perfect, you know? I just got an e-mail back asking for photos/videos and they were thinking of ways I could be involved, so that's a start!
