It's because PayPal's founding membership is Mormon, and eBay (the parent company) was founded and run by Mormons.

The irony here is that Adult DVD Universe lets me buy things via PayPal, and eBay has an "Adults Only" section where I go to for gay porn.

This would be the reason why I've seen people using the invoice system more and more.
Set up a google docs, get the info filled out, and then give them an invoice when you wish to receive payment.

Personally, I just put "FA: Bahn" ... That way, they know I sent it. It's usually an expected payment but you don't know how many other commissioners would happen to be paying that day too.

I say very vague, like "Thanks for this! PlagueRat AKA El3ctrophr34k" That's it.

I tell people commission for MurphyZ on FA (in case they commission elsewhere too). If say you have two commissions, one prOn and one not, I'd send a note on FA saying "I just paid you for the prOn commission via paypal"

I note....paid by "this email" this amount as a sort of receipt.

I have always wanted to put "For sexual favors" in the memo section of my checks when I make my utility bill payments, but those big corporations do NOT have a sense of humour!

According to paypal's representatives, they're acceptable use policies are not against adult materials. What they are against are any depictions of, or distribution of anything juvenile or characters already copyrighted. Illustrated pornography including illustrations, comics, or even things like toys are fine. As long as you specify that what you are offering is for 18 and older.

One of the reasons some of those transactions get flagged is because of the fear that it IS prostitution and they refuse to take any chances in regards to those particular situations.

If you wish to make a private transaction, keep it private, keep it to names and specify things as services and goods only, beyond that, it doesn't need to be any one elses business.

The issue is that Paypal words it in a way so that they reserve the right to [blank] and are not responsible if [blank] over [blank] [blank]. They fill in what's convenient at the time and ignores any form of appeal.
