As far as I'm concerned, the fact that you go through so much effort for other people speaks volumes. In short, you're a kind, thoughtful, hard working person. It's a shame there aren't more people like you, the world could use a lot more people with these sorts of qualities. :)

Is a shame to read all this from someone like you. I don't think I'm like what you describe, I have talent but shitty attitude.

Unfortunelly, there are true hardworkers and what does other people do with them? Leave them the rest of the work!

In my experience, people either give themselves too much or too little credit. I'm sure your attitude isn't half as bad as you think it is. :)

I have to disagree :/ I think you've got a great personality; the proof is in the effort you're willing to commit yourself to in your raffles, sketches, and trades.
Whenever I do a trade, I ask for the same amount of work I'm willing to put into my half; flats, just lines, just a sketch, etc. Then I do my best to portray whatever it is I'm going to be doing. It's a good way to keep yourself from feeling cheated by the end of it all.

Yo tambien hago algo parecido en los trades. Me pongo a ver que es lo que la otra persona le gusta (o al menos lo que tenga mas repetido en su galeria) y luego trabajo en mi parte.
Me gusta ponerle esfuerzo a los trades pero rare ves hago por 3 razones:
1. A veces trabajo demasiado en mi parte y la otra persona parece como si la hubiera sacado en solo unos minutos.
2. Es demasiado dificil encontrar gente para hacer trades.
Y la ultima que es mas mi culpa: 3. Tiempo y motivacion. Los mios varian demasiado.
Por eso rara ves hago trades |D

La ultima es tambien mi debilidad: depende mucho de mi motivacion y tiempo. Si te fijas, en mis scraps los dibujos con el titulo "Sketch Raffle" fueron dibujos que hice gratis para unas rifas. Fijate como algunos, aunque sean bocetos no muy detallados varian de calidad. Pareciera que a algunos les dedique mas tiempo que a otros y es verdad.

Yo por esas y muchas razones no he abierto trades. Y si lo hago, dejo que la otra persona termine su parte para saber cuanto le debo dedicar ^^

O tambien estan esos momentos en los que te dan el personaje a hacer, acceptas y de la nada se te quitan las ganas de dibujar ese personaje y te pones a dibujar otras cosas que no tienen nada que ver con el trade. Me a pasado varias veces |D

i think trades deserve that research that you do. i definitely try to draw something that the other people will like. i mean...why draw them art if they won't like it? that is against the purpose i think.

and you're definitely awesome and a brilliant artist!! don't ever think you're not o.o

Yes, this is an issue of concern to me. I genrally solve it by asking a lot of things about the pic and tastes before starting on a trade 0w0

Doing some research on the trade is always a good thing. :) That shows how much effort you put into the piece beforehand.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm in the same boat as well.

In all the trades I do I usually ask the person some questions about what they want and then read through their profile, pic descriptions, and journals to see what other stuff I can scrounge up to put out a good pic for the trade.

also, its the responisiblity of the artist to do a decent trade. If he has great work and you give him something great and he gives you something thats definatley crap, he's a moocher. He wasn't in it for the experience, he was in it for the free art ><

Cuando uno se compromete a hacer un trade se esmeran ambas partes, cuando la otra parte no lo hace no es un trade.

La verdad es complicado pero cierto lo que mencionas, muchos no toma nen serio y solo porque ven que "dibujas muy padre" no se necesita esmerar en su parte, cosa totalmente falsa.
Igual tiene mucho que ver el estado de ánimo y el tiempo que se tenga.


Bueno, en realidad es algo triste de platicar pero es bueno que lo digas de una vez para que quede claro de lo que esperas en a parte que les toque darte e un trade.

Yeah I hear ya on that! Heh heh I am always afraid if I'm giving people the equivalent value on art trades. I pour my all into each of the drawings anyway.

that is why i just give art and expect nothing in return. The thing is, with people on this site, you have no idea what their intentions or anything are so trading can be really frustrating. For quality. You should only really try if the person you are trading with is someone you feel will give you something equivalent in return. Maybe you should initiate the trades more. This way you can manage what you want to do instead of being flooded by so many people that want a piece of your awesome works. You dont have a crappy attitude, and your works are astounding. hope this helps a little

I always saw trades as a mutual-like for the others work and your both basically agreeing to gift each-other~ :'S *Course you wanna draw something they'll like! X'D (iz kinda the point?) going to excess effort is a very nice gesture, but I have had crappy trades in which the my partner not only 'just wanted something of theirs drawn by me' and another never finished their half either~~ \|'S

Also been very honored to have been asked by certain others, and felt I didn't give them enough for the beautiful half they produced!
I think it comes down to certain level of respect at the core, and moreover.. if you don't think the trade is fair, don't accept! :'S

I can't draw, but have done trades in the past. Music for art, or even some advanced technical editing/compositing/animation for art; and so far, I've yet not had any 'trade' which I considered to be fair.

The musical pieces I've done all required several hours of work. A full piece of mine easily takes 50 hours; those were smaller, and done between 3-8 hours each. In return, I got a sketch. A nice one, I admit, really... but I know how quickly they draw those, and I know this didn't take longer than an hour, at most.

I turned a 3D-sculpture into a turntable animation for someone else; which took me a bit more than 3 hours, and received some art in return which the artist likely spent 10+ hours on it. Of course I'm incredibly happy with the drawing, but it doesn't feel fair to me, either.

I haven't done a lot of trades. I've done several, but nowhere near the amount I've seen others do. I usually don't ask others because I worry I'll be bothering them. I tend to wait for people to ask me.
When I do my part, I do try to understand the character I'm drawing. I want it to be something that the other person will enjoy. I try to find a theme that I know they like. There have been a few times in which that was not the case for what I got. Either it was way off from what I like, or it wasn't even my character at all!
And then there's the lower quality art I get in return. I hate to be like this about it, but I know they can do better than what I got! I tried hard on my part, but what I got in return looked sloppy and rushed. :(

IMO I really don't care about attitude or personality, I just TRADE. Going through the profiles & journals to build an idea for a trade...that to me is a trade KILLER, cause everybody's got their sour attitudes, bleghs, crying spells, sicknesses, bad days, so there's bound to be rant journals. Also the profiles will have the statuses with clubs, friends/families & mates. PoV, nationalities, different opinions, favoritisms, etc...

So I just trade regardless.

I kinda treat my trades like I would a commish, askin what they might like and showing em before finishing touches are made n such, to see if there were anything they might like differently. As for quality, Mebbe a smudge less, but not by much.

I usually ask the person i'm trading with what they would like, though since i usually only trade with friends i'm getting to know their likes and dislikes more. On the drawing side i'm super picky about it, trying to get the work as perfect as possible, and often going further on it than had been agreed ( ie: were doing a lineart trade and i might end up coloring it a bit). I dont like drawing half-assed trades, cause that would say to the other person that i didn't really care about them, so i do the best i can to show that i DO care.
