― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones I get so frustrated with myself. I don't understand why I get more critical of my art as I'm supposed to be "progressing with my skill". I miss the days when I was younger and I could do a piece of art and absolutely love it and adore it and think it was "the shit!" But now I can barely make it half way through a picture before I just want to rip it apart. Fortunately by the time I get to that point I just convince myself that it'll look fine when it's all done...
And I don't even know what the point of being so self critical is? It doesn't make me improve by any means. Generally it just makes me upset... /rant.
I obviously don't have anything better to post at this time x). I'm too tired right now to update my commission info and trade info so I figured I would just post a journal about my feelings.

I hear you. I think it's because I was too young to realize the picture had issues and while I miss that I take pride in knowing I've improved...letting go of the self criticism is hard but doable. If you keep finishing things even if you think they're off you'll eventually appreciate how far you've progressed :)

Yeah that is true. I do like being able to see completed worked in my gallery, even if I hate them lol. I think part of it may just be I don't like the direction of my art. It just doesn't feel like the stuff I used to love to do. Looking at my old gallery.. I just love all the colors of the traditional media I used to use. SO I decided last night that's the direction I'm moving in!

Cool! I love your were stuff and Sequinox is an awesome character but I do think you can balance that with more color in your gallery too! Maybe make a secondary more colorful design or something....or just more saturated color palettes in general. In any case, excited. :)
