I was never much of a fan of Fernandos. And at first I was annoyed by the mass postings on how awful it was that a single (mediocre) restaurant was closing down. I was even irked that people were donating money and putting in such an effort to drive 6 hours just to say goodbye. But it's not my opinion of the restaurant that's the topic here. I understand that a LOT of AC attendee's love his place and he valued our business. It doesn't matter who we're donating to. It's not like we're taking donation money set aside for a "more worthy cause" to give to Fernando. People who donate are giving what they worked for to support someone in need. Furries are just fucking amazing, seriously. Fans from at least 6 countries pooled together to raise 21,000 dollars to keep this man's business up and running. Although it's highly unlikely that the establishment will stay in business for more than one extra year, you all gave this man hope. Not just hope that he won't have the funds to take care of basic necessities. You helped him believe that this world is full of good, compassionate people! Thousands of strangers donated money to this man, some of whom had never been to the city.

It's amazing what good people can do when they set their minds to it. Furries who donate to so many causes help better society by spreading love and generosity across the globe! Hopefully those who saw this or ANY charitable cause are inspired to help their fellow man... or woman, child, restaurant... etcetera! Thanks to those who donated, Fernando can continue to run his business at least for a few more months. And the physical presence of all of you in Pittsburgh helped to gather the attention that betters the public view of us ANTHROCONS! I'm so proud to be a part of this community! You're FUCKING AWESOME!
