FurAffinity and InkBunny
General
I realised a while back that some people that I followed had migrated to InkBunny - so in order for me to keep following them, I had to create an account on InkBunny to get updated on their submissions. Whilst I was there, I realised that it wouldn't be just artists that migrated away, but also followers who follow the followed. In realising this, I started submitting artwork on FA and IB simultaneously so that the people who only use one site or the other, would be able to stay in receipt of my submissions.
Now I know that there are several reasons why people use one site over the other - but the Popular tab of InkBunny displays a bunch of random select submissions out of the most popular roster of artwork over the last 3 days. And in doing so, I generally see the same type of themes; cub art, diapers, Sonic porn and ponies.
This journal is not about my opinion of what I like and don't like in terms of artwork. I watch who I watch and you can find out what I like from what's in my favourites. I'm also speculating this topic and not directly trying to insult or offend anybody who does this. But for some reason, many people have attained this "I don't go to InkBunny because it's full of porn or goes to extremes of the themes I like." But, if you don't go to IB because of porn - why are you still on FA, where there is easily just as much porn, if not more? There are Acceptable Upload Policies (AUP) that state what you can and can't submit, but both websites have porn.
The same goes for people who use DeviantArt over FurAffinity because FA is for "furry weirdos". Well, there's furry weirdos on DA too, y'know. :/
Let me know what you think about all of this, but please don't argue with each other in the comments - we all have different opinions and I'd like to hear yours, not hear you disagreeing with each other.

FA+

People as a whole have always been able to feel better about themselves if they have a collective group to sneer at, even if it's not actual sneering. "At least we're not like -those- people"
DA has it with FA, and it can go backward from FA to DA, too. They both have it towards IB. Some countries have it toward others. Sports have it towards other sports. Occupations do it with other jobs.
This, basically: http://brunching.com/images/geekchartbig.gif I know I've shown you it before.
There are other reasons, sure, but this is the one I wanted to post on my phone. Some fear being associated with something they deem as lesser for any particular reason. You can't keep up that dominant facade over something if you partake in it yourself- see MMOs~
You and I will probably talk more on this, anyway, as there are more reasons.
Uuuhb..FA. Uuh.
IMO, FA is prolly the best furry-art community posting site that's gonna be here. There's idiots, admin that don't know hoe to run the place, children who fly in from DA not knowing "what that is", then proceeding to make the dramas.
Drama is another thing though. `A`
IB, i'd go to if-- you know, posting art there more often if it weren't CHOCK-FULL of baby-furs. I can't stand that! It's the equipment to FA's over abundance of uber-gay art. Both i'd rather not see. Like..really.
More on topic though, you've raised some great points. There's weird crap absolutely everywhere, not just with furries and websites related to them. Yeah there's porn and stuff like that, but the only way you can see it is if you have an account and manually adjust your settings to allow it (though there's always people who upload anything as "general").
I think 2 the Ranting Gryphon said it best: "We're not the only group with freaks, we're just the only group where the freaks are the representatives."
Besides, once your an IB member, you can block keywords and even the artists themselves so you never have to see cub porn on the site. It's really not that difficult.
I used to try doing the same thing... posting between both IB and FA, that is. I had no problems at all with it until I received my 3rd art removal warning ever and my first strike against my account record for linking to Inkbunny for my underwear series, which contains commissions of characters who are not minors drawn in a semi-chibi manner. According to FA's AUP, "FA does not permit any material involving minors (real or otherwise) under the legal age (18 involved in mature situations," and this was applied to me only because the outline of a flaccid penis could be clearly seen my image. Which is apparently "mature" nowadays.

There was also this interesting tidbit, in which an artist was banned from his account after 3 months of inactivity for having links to his inkbunny gallery on images that had been posted to his gallery for over three months. He became inactive due to a removal warning and didn't look back. Which makes me aware that I may also be banned in the future for not going through my gallery and removing links.
Since this thing only applies to mature artwork, I'm sure that you'll never run into this problem Kachi. But cute art that is mature, which commonly involves characters that look youthful (as a common attribute of 'cute' is 'young'), is unfortunately also under the net. I don't have a problem with the cub art ban, personally. I understand the reason it was done entirely, but the over-extent of the rules regarding it, following the initial event makes the site very unfriendly.
