Maybe I'm crazy. (Confused rant warning.)

I wanna start by saying that I'm not saying this to offend anyone or their lifestyles or whatever. Just wanna get straight, honest thoughts on this matter 'cause I'm finding it a little... weird.
So, recently two of my friends who're both girls and in a relationship, engaged actually, have finally went public with the fact that they are in a lesbian relationship. Now, I'm proud of them and I support them completely... and this is where the "but" comes in. I recently heard that one of them is looking to explain the nature of their relationship with their 3 year old niece in the form of a book.
Now, like I said, I don't disagree with homosexuality and, quite frankly, I don't care at all about it, but... this seems a little, extreme to me. For some reason, it's kind of throwing my mind for a loop that she thinks she needs to explain herself to a three year old, and that a three year old is capable of understanding the whole thing. It just doesn't add up to me and kind of mindfucks me a little.
So, my question to you guys is... am I wrong for thinking this? Or does it sound a little whacked to you, too? I'm certainly no expert on parenting, as I'm 21 and really not ready for kids, but my common sense is tingling.
Also, no bickering or hate speak. I can't stand intolerance and will deal with it accordingly. Just looking for people's honest opinions. That's it and that's all. If you can't do that, there's the door... and don't let it hit your ass on the way out.

Though to amswer your question no you arent crazy, but you aremt really in a position to take action.
though it might be a bit awkward for a child in class to say "I don't have a daddy, I have two moms" and then people questioning it.
I lost my train of thought....
sooo tire of etter hunting. ninja ca if you can't rea this.
ugh missig etters make wors chage
Im not saying there is any reason for the parent to try and explain mommies sex life... thats just not good...however...
I believe if more children were presented with childrens stories and fairytales that introduced alternative lifestyle as something that was just there and normal... then at least maybe that generation wouldnt be so bigoted.
One can hope anyway.
