LET ME TELL YOU A STORY.
It's a story about a hormonal 15-year-old with way too much access to the internet, and how one day he decided to go searching for content relating to his darkest desires. Now, much to his amazement he discovered an entire website dedicated to such things which kept him happy and fulfilled (distractingly fulfilled) for many months to come.
Now this website had a message board and for some reason everyone seemed to be using animal names so this poor, misguided teenager said "I know I'll be an internet fox, then I'll fit in!"
10 FUCKING YEARS LATER this now fully-grown adult, employed by the government, is STILL a goddamn internet fox with no forseeable method of escape. Ten years of his precious, one and only shot at life in this incredible, limitless universe. To put it another way, 5 more years and half his life will have been dedicated to being an internet fox.
In case you didn't figure it out the internet fox is me and 10 years ago today my life changed in the most ridiculous way that I never quite recovered from. Now don't get me wrong, I love the life of an internet fox, and there's no point saying "what would my life be like if I hadn't decided to be an internet fox?" because, given my interests for as long as I can even remember, things were never going to turn out any other way. 10 years just seems like a good moment to sit back and reflect and say "actually that's a long time to be an internet fox."
Go on then, I'm in for another 10, then a midlife crisis might knock the fox out of me, we'll see.
Now in honour of my 10 years of internet foxdom, here's 10 things you may or may not have already known about me:
1. I got the name Jym when I tried to log into a chat room and Jim was already taken. That's it. Jim's my real life personname too so it's actually even less imaginitive than that.
2. I decided to be an internet fox because I stole a book about foxes from school, not because everyone else was one! (I didn't even realise how common they were) - the school then burnt down so I actually saved that book, saving isn't stealing.
3. I hated foxes as a kid because they ate my guinea pigs. Not sure when I actually stopped hating them, I guess one day I was just like "oh I can't stay mad at yooou. <3"
4. The first con I ever went to was Anthrocon in 2006 - I was unemployed at the time so that was a stupid thing to do, but I'd do it again!
5. I'm not
wolfflax, but he is wonderful! In fact he's my longest standing furry friend. 
iddybiddybunneh is way up there too.
6. I've never had any desire to get a fursuit, stop trying to make me, gosh! I can record you guys, I thought you'd find that useful. ;.;
7. Fender is so hot oh my god you don't even understand.
8. Jym tastes like bacon not particularly for any vore reason, but because I was once told foxes smell like bacon in real life and I believed it. When I brought it up several years later he didn't even remember saying it but by that point it had stuck. More specifically he tastes like Frazzles.
9. I tried to draw properly for about a week before realising I had no desire to draw properly and was only doing it because everyone else did. Fursuits and artistic ability do not a furry make, that's the most important lesson of all! Once I'd learned that, I could go on to corner the market in amazing fox drawings.
10. Foxes is nice.
GUYS I wouldn't trade my place in this ridiculous fandom for anything in the world (except maybe money), I hope you realise how amazing you all are, I love you all. <3

I'd say I'm about 8/9 years and still without a job.
Besides this is just one of those things in your life that most ppls at work might not no about. If you think this is bad just be glad your not into humping car or god knows what else, damn the stuff I have heard about on Second life still makes me skin crawl.
Who knows someome you pass by all day, might have some real weird fiendish, that makes furry's look tame.

also yeah foxes are common but it could be worse you could have made a wolf or husky character and the you would really be bland XD hoorah for the two most common over used types of sonas anyone?
