Tell me how this sounds

My grandmother is a... How to word it politely... A complainer. Everything is subject to criticism, and everything has to be perfect. Example: In our house, there is a huge open concept kitchen, that opens to the living room. With a 10 food island in the middle, defining the two spaces. But the island is not for putting stuff on. No, not at all. It needs to be a bare, clean surface at all times with nothing on it. Set your keys on it? BOOM. You are in trouble, go hang them up. Working on paperwork? BAM. Wrong place to do so.
Example 2: My dog sheds a lot. She is a husky, its natural! I vacuum the carpet every day to keep hair balls away. Know what my grandma said about her shedding?
"You should have left that dog at the pound so she would never have been taken."
Adequate response to a shedding problem, right?
Tell me if I'm just overreacting or not.

But I fear she is also immune then against good arguments.
you were making an effort to keep the house clean of pet hair so there was no reason for her to say that. She isn't the one vacuuming up the hair.
