Hospital Bills =(

Commission info is below
Ugh, I spent the day playing phone tag between my referring doctor, the hospital that performed a procedure, and my insurance company. Yesterday when I got home from work, I came back to a nice big bill in my mailbox--my insurance company refused the bill because they said I had visited an out-of-network carrier.
I'm frustrated, as I had dotted the i's, slashed my Ts...I went to a PCP and he told me I needed an ultrasound done to help diagnose pain I've been having. I told them I was uncomfortable with the place they were referring me to because my insurance is limited, but they said that I had their referral etc...I then proceeded to talk to the hospital and the billing receptionist had actually delayed my appointment for 20 minutes and ASSURED ME that she had looked into it and this was definitely covered. I told them, I have a limited plan and cannot afford it if she was wrong...she told me it was fine.
It wasn't covered at all. When i contacted my insurance there's no record of her contacting them at all.
Now I am slapped with a bill that's over $1000. I *just* paid $800 in taxes because there had been a mistake and my employer had been taking the wrong amount, and because my art is self-employed I owed other taxes on that to the state as well (to-be-fair, that I had planned for and had saved...the rest not so much). That drained the remaining amount in my savings.
And the most irking thing is that the ultrasound didn't even find anything--with the conditions I'm looking at timing is crucial, and we were off this time. That 1k is for nothing. In order to get diagnosed I may have to have several done. I don't even know. I'm trying to get my insurance to cover a portion because it HAD to be done and they would have had to cover it if I went in network--I might be able to manage the difference if there is one.
I will be opening for commissions to help cover costs. I may consider taking on a painting as well, if someone is interested. More details will follow.

Tips
don't they have to answer to some board if they generate losses like that?
anyway, painting sounds good. what did you have in mind for one of those, and what price range? maybe I can help out a little bit.
The paintings would be the quality of
This: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7504122/ at $80 for that style background
And this quality starting at $125 for a simple character and backgrounds on this level:

and with a more complicated background like this, starts at $150

I'd be happy to discuss multiple characters, very detailed backgrounds, different sizes, etc and we can come up with a fair price. A painting may take a couple of months to complete because I do them in layers, but I can take progress-shots throughout.
first, a pin up each of those two, after the first link you posted:

she may "present herself" or stomp around naked in frustration of another lover turning out "useless piece of ***" while cradling a bottle of vodka, or anythign else you can think up.

she has no name, but a real horse as reference image (sorry, no photo reference. I really should make one before she dies of old age.) one which has a white spotty horse as a mom, and a chestnut daddy... momma was named "Tigris" if I recall right, so let's name her Tigris. as you can imagine she's a draft horsey and built strong and curvey.
second, an elaborate piece with good BG of those two snuggling up to each other.

they are role-playing characters in D&D, thus a fantasy environment. she's relatively short, with her head at his collarbone. she's a lot into jewelry and piercings, and chains, especially silver (her people, called Lupins, are said to be descended from lycanthropes that got a grip on their evil, feral nature and founded a culture to fit into the other races. so they wear a lot of silver. everybody knows werewolves hate silver, so they can't be werewolves, yes?)
he seldom wears more than a loincloth, with large wings he's hard-pressed to find somethign elegant. also, brass scales look better, don't they? his species is called Dragonne, actually a monster race hybrided off brass dragons and feral lions. there is a story behind his appearance, if you like to hear it I can try to retell it. :)
now, for the price of beauty. or something. the pinups are out of the question, so this leaves the third piece to negotiate. ^^
is your paypal still the same?
Oo that sounds lovely, the pinups would definitely be doable, I always love your characters. Can you tell me more about the second character so that I can have some ideas on how to pose her?
What kind of background were you thinking for the last one, would you like it indoors or out? I'd love to do a fantasy forest-type of background, maybe a picnic near a magic-looking pond or waterfall, or among some ancient ruin with glowing runic scrawl. Naked or clothed, and how snuggled is snuggled? For two characters and a complicated background it would be about $200 once we hammered out background details. I need to double-check shipping costs as I would need to make sure that it was insured to Germany so can't use my standard way, so that will be in addition.
In larger pieces, I often do half payment upfront while I hammer out the sketches and then payment after everything is painted.
I can give you all of it upfront if the bills are too pressing, though.
okay, the second character, the horse, isn't worked out yet. until now she was a one-time character. but I think she's kind, easygoing, and a bit exhibitionistic. :)
all ideas sound awesome. :) the ruins might sound best, with a freshly slain monster somewhere in the BG? only hinted at, of course. :) so they are already nude and ready to use all the adrenaline and excitement for somethign else (which will be left to the viewer's wicked imagination.) as for snuggling, I can imagine Alix liking to use his wings to comfort a partner. but in the end I'll leave it to you. :)
The $260 upfront and the rest on receipt of sketches sounds best, I'm always nervous of accepting so much money up-front. I'll have a few thumbnails to choose from and you can choose which would make the best final pieces.
Thinking about it, I really like the ancient ruins idea, maybe with a slain monster hinted at and runes lighting up as they...er...consecrate the hints of an alter...it would almost be a story in itself!
Is there an email I can use to contact you if FA goes down at any point? There's been month-long shortages before, so best to have a second means of contact. My best contact address (mvigeant86@gmail.com) is different than my paypal (miguanav@msn.com).
pictures that tell stories are best! the longer, the better... consecrating an altair? what a wondrous idea. :) especially if the idol looks like the slain mosnter, or vice versa. ^^ like, adding insult to injury. XD
my email would be Anbessa@gmx.de. I usually check once a day, unless I'm away from keyboard; but at least I'd get back at you within a few days.
in two weeks I'll be away to a furry con for a long weekend, just in case. ^^
