Not everything is easily replaceable. Most of that jewelry had sentimental value to my mother. Stuff from her deceased grandmother, things my brother and I have given her, some stuff from her deceased friend... Lots of stuff.

Damn that sucks, really sorry to hear. A shame people will go to such lengths. It's one thing if its food for survival, but thats just plain greed by the sounds of it. =/

It's not a loss to take lightly indeed, hopefully you can manage to recover them or get some compensation.
