rest in peace Petey Pete
I'm starting a war for peace.
Was not a very good day yesterday. My in-laws own a bar and grill and we have taken in a calico cat we named "Mama Cali" who hangs out in the beer garden and each time Mama Cali had a litter of kittens they always got raised up around the bar and got used to everyone there and we always found good homes for the kittens once they were weaned off of Mama and at least a couple of months old to be on their own.
Mama's last litter consisted of 5 kitties three males and two females, the girls automatically went with each other to a home, the dark tabby male eventually found a home leaving the two orange tabbies at the bar. The wife affectionately named all five cats after Peter Pan characters the two orange tabbies were named Peter Pan and Captain Hook.
The boys are at least a good six months old or so and Mama just recently had another litter of four little fluff balls. Yesterday afternoon Pete hadn't been around the bar all day and not a lot really since the new kittens were born.
One of the girls that works the noon shift at the bar was getting ready to leave for the day and was sitting in her car texting her fiance when she looked out over her dashboard and saw a cat lying in the street (technically highway that runs thru town) up against the curb in front of the fire hall. She then goes back inside and gets my wife who is then followed by my mother-in-law and I follow behind her and we all reach the edge of the highway and sure enough there's Peter.
Apparently he had gotten hit earlier that morning by somebody coming through town, but later on finding out from a friend of the family whose husband owns the local repair garage from their parts runner that he saw someone in town that morning hit Pete and from the sound of things it was on purpose too. I'm sad to lose one of the cats that's been around the bar for a while and has become part of the bar family, but I'm also pissed off that someone purposely went and ran over our cat! All I can say is "watch the fuck out whoever did that" karma's a bitch and she'll come around and bite you in your ass when the time comes.
Rest in peace Peter Pan, now you can keep Pudly company in cat heaven. Pudly was the very first bar cat who we had to put to sleep last year before Christmas, he was getting very old and was diagnosed with feline leukemia.
