Depending on how old the computer is if the motherboard is bad unless your replacing it with the exact model used your probably going to pay to much to fix it. Once you change out the motherboard with something newer you have to get a processor and ram to match. If you want me to help you find a motherboard to match your old system i can do that too.

I could step you through putting the hard drive in a Enclosure so you can move it about and plug it in any USB slot to get your data. We would charge about 49.99 for the enclosure and 50 for labor.. but since your a fellow friend i wouldn't charge you labor to step you through it. If you need help getting the enclosure let me know.

Seeing what I can do right now. As is It's costing me $40 dollars for his labor of looking inside and giving me the diagnosis. then once I do that I can have my Hard drive. He is offering a new computer of sorts I guess where he's asking if I want to put the hard drive in or transfer the data from it. I REALLY want to keep my data you know.. what with my iTunes on there and well my pics, stories, and a few videos.

YOu can move the data yourself if you know how. and before you buy a new computer give me the specs and the cost
