I got an email today from "MTV" about casting for their series "True Life". This is the message I got from them.
Hi Foxglove,
I found you through Live Journal.
I'm casting an episode of True Life, focusing on being a Furry. This is a docu-series to chronicle the real life of a Furry. We have no intention of showing Furries in a negative light but instead hope to dispel some of the media myths out there about them. I would love to talk to you more about the show to see if you or anyone else you know might be interested.

We want to show the positive aspects of the lifestyle (fursuiting, going to conventions, making friends, finding your own style, etc.) as well as the adversity you face. This straight-forward documentary-style show will let you educate our viewers and TELL THE WORLD YOUR OWN TRUE STORY!

• Are you tired of people treating you differently because you're a Furry?

Not only is this fake, and the person is just trying to get a hold of the wrong person for the wrong thing, I googled the phone number, and I got this

Well at least not the idea....
True Life the show on MTV is actually doing a casting call on their website for a furry.
You can find it on their website.
Now, what you got... I have no idea.
But the show is looking...
This has actually been going on for quite some time, the earliest I remember this topic comming up was since last September. Considering you and several others I know have just gotten this email today makes me think they haven't gotten enough people yet.
Though either way, it's not a good idea to audition considering who's behind it. I also remember on the forums someone talking about they might be on the show. (This was back in September.) They said that if they were choosen, they would have to "come out" to their co-workers, classmates etc. To me that's a whole lotta' red flags right there.
I also heard that True Life did a gamer episode, and it was pretty much terrible. So that doesn't bode well for a niche' fandom.
As some have said, following a furry on a typical day would be boring. Checking FA, maybe watch a furry movie. Show the plushie collection or any drawing commissions you may have. Of course they will want someone with a fursuit. Now if you look at the MTV site they are suggesting sexual encounters with their solicitation of participants. Ya, you are going to receive high show ratings without showing sex. Right....
I wonder what con they will try to invade. We already have FWA invaded with media.
All in all, furries are gonna by furries, and drama is gonna follow close behind.
Their stuff is so bad.
