It happened to me with a 256MB pen-drive :B! I thought it was dead in 2010 and just a couple of months ago I plugged it in for no reason, and it works!! And NOW IT WORKS! XD
maybe the fan managed to break free again from whatever was blocking it or some excess dust got blown out. i'd still be as carefull as possible tough. who knows how long this will last.

Definitely don't do any critical work on it. Save everything important to a flash drive
