Confuzzled 2012 - thoughts
Great con, great people, great times. Had an amazing weekend filled with all kinds of fun and enjoyed everything, be it fuzzybouncing, socialising or snarking at random things with fellow likeminded sarcastic arses. The venue is gorgeous and the hotel staff absolutely wonderful which contributed excellently to the general atmosphere of the con. I find it hard to think of any complaints about the whole thing and when I do they're incredibly minor (the fursuit lounges could've used a mirror?) which speaks its own thing.
Some random thoughts:
- A bizarre part of me loves how it's become a bit of an inside joke that I spend so much time in suit that it's a small miracle whenever I randomly appear without it. That said, fursuiting is pretty much one of the best things ever and oh god it was so fun and so good to finally get to do it properly again.
- I've been to every single Confuzzled except the first one which is ever-so-slightly annoying because I've got mementos from all the other ones and I have that gotta catch 'em all mentality. But fortunately I can simply pretend I was there because thanks to a clerical error I ended up with the special 5th anniversary attendee badge after all, both the regular and shiny versions (didn't get the fancy plaque though). SO PRETTY.
- Much love to
and
who made the most boring part of the charity auction the most hilarious moment of the con. <3
- The Pawpet Show, wow. The Pawpet shows have always been a bit cheesy and corny in a sort of adorable way. This year's one was actually quite emotional at parts thanks to the absolutely fabulous between-scene drawing slideshows which were, well, downright fantastic in every way from art to narration. And I have to admire the way the production values keep increasing each year, especially when it results in things like the final boss fight.
- Managed to tick off one of the things in my bucket list I never imagined I'd be able to do - interact with a real live fox. This year's charity hosted a wonderful meet-the-charity session with several live animals, one of them a domesticated fox. And when the fox was taken for a little walk outside, we were allowed to touch and pet it. I'm no spiritual furry or anyone who believes the fox is my soul animal or whatever, but having identified myself as one within this fandom for so long it was genuinely touching to actually get to briefly meet one in a way that will never really happen otherwise. Immense thanks to the charity for that, and hopefully the charity money raised brings many good things for you.
- Somehow I ended up acting as the Obi-Wan to two new fursuiters during the con. I feel somewhat honoured people actually think I know something about this stuff to help them on their first fuzzy steps.
- Yay Brok hugs :3

Much love to everyone who made this a brilliant weekend, you guys know who you are <3. Will probably be spamming pics etc once they start flowing.

FA+

(ps, 0% to charity, I have vinyl records I need to buy)
Of course people come to you for advice, your good at what you do, and fursuiters help each other out :)
Does anyone know what next year's theme is?
I bet it was warm everywhere due to the weather?
As for the fox... yeah, that was fantastic. I rubbed her like I rub my cat at home and she didn't mind at all. Doubt I'll ever get a chance to rub a fox again.
I also rubbed the barn owl, btw. Huge claws, sharp beak and immense yellow eyes. Yep, pretty intimidating but I somehow plucked up the courage to reach out and ruffle his feathers. I gave the tarantula a miss, though!
