Yup. I foolishly moved down there in 2008 to live with my ex-girlfriend down in West Palm Beach. We were there about six or eight months, then had to move back north due to deaths in both of our families. I kind of miss some things about the place, like the warm weather in December, but I still like Kentucky a lot better.

Eeek! You can get the warm weather in December lots of places. Come down to Mexico and visit me sometime. It's wonderful for spending the winter!

I DO live near Vandenberg Air Force Base where they launch a lot of the satellites. I've gotten to see some outrageous launches from about 20 miles off or so. They don't let anyone know when they're gonna do it so it's just luck when you catch one. Rode by one in a train while they were fueling it once. The train runs right through the base and quite close to the launch pads. Cool stuff!!

Yes, I have read about the Amtrak service along the coast there. Should be an interesting sight, watching them launch Deltas, or even Titan IIs back in the day. They even had facilities to launch the Shuttle, back when there were ideas of using if for military purposes, but that never happened...another military boondoggle brought to you by the Reagan administration, heh.
