The Catillac Cats

Here's an interesting trip down memory lane:

This is from the Heathcliff/Catillac Cats show, first aired back in the late 1980s.
I remember seeing Cleo the cat back when my teen body was flooded with frustrated hormones. Most cartoon females were a caricature of femininity, but this show was different, and I think Cleo was actually meant to seem sexy with only a light touch of exaggeration. Of course, we had no internets back then (and no yiff) and I never guessed that others could develop a crush on a fictional ideal, so I never told anybody (until right now). (Note: everybody has some kind of fantasy, but this kind is pretty harmless since it can't cross over into the real world.)
Something else impressed me when I was watching this clip. It doesn't have the kind of sadistic character interactions that you see in so many cartoons before and since. In the part where Leroy was trying to disrupt their plans and was about to bring objects crashing down on him, the cats actually warned him to look out, and when he was stubborn and got clobbered anyway, Riff Raff actually rescued him. I was actually touched by this shocking display of civility. I hope it isn't just a thing of the past.
