Going back to college no matter what.
I've decided that I'm going to go back to Wayne State this fall, even if I have to chew thru a brick wall to get back in. I had enrolled there a few years back, taking biology, psychology and chemistry classes part time. But then I got into financial trouble, and couldn't enroll in any more classes because of a past due tuition balance. I started making payments, but after a while they added a $900 collection fee to my account, so I'm still making payments almost 4 years later, and looking to sell almost everything I still have to put what I can towards the $2,800 I still owe them.
I'm admittedly no stranger to college, and no spring chicken. I had first gone to a community college after high school, and then had transferred to Oakland University. I didn't HAVE to go to the community college first, (I had decent grades, a tested IQ of 152 and a 35 out of 36 on the ACT) my dad had just thought it would save me money if I went there for 2 years and then transfered credits. I dropped out of college in 2003, and got married, so that I could devote all my time outside work to my now ex-wife. Guess I'm not that smart after all! But anyhow, I'm going to do things right this time. I never had any shortage in ability before, just a lack of direction, study habits and motivation. No excuse for anything less than straight A's.
My new goal is to first finish my Bachelor's of Science in Bio-Engineering, with a minor in Psychology (minor coursework already completed) and then pursue a Master's of Science in Bio-Engineering, with a core specialty in neuroscience. I'm going to study my ass off, and at some point close to finishing that degree, I plan on taking the MCAT and owning it. So if anyone out there has done that, then you know where I plan on heading after that. :D
