If you've heard of the recent shootings in a cafe in Seattle, 2 of the victims Drew (AKA. Shmoozi the Clod) and Joe Meshugena (I probably didn't spell that right) were both from a band called Circus Contraption, which was an amazing band and I figured I'd share it with you all here. I saw them in New York about 5 years ago and it was an amazing show. Part weird fucked up dirty jazz/carnival music, part side show circus acts (AKA traveling dime museum), and part burlesque show.

So yeah, Shmoozi and Joe were both great musicians as are everyone in the band. I didn't know Schmoozi that well but based on his online presence, (we were friends on myspace!), the fact he played accordion, and from talking to him briefly he seemed like an awesome person. The guy who shot him and 5 others was a desperate unstable guy and apparently Shmoozi even tried to help him previously.

Basically, Shmoozi and Circus Contraption have been a pretty big influence on me and my band in a lot of ways. I can't believe out of all the people in the universe that anyone would kill Schmoozi. I really regret not seeing them when they came to NY a second time, but it was probably during my anger period where I didn't want to do anything. Im glad I didn't shoot anyone during that period.
