Why we call it Satanism

It must be emphasized that:
We are not an official Church of Satan group. We are not here on behalf of the Church of Satan. We are not a "Satanic Community."
We are a group on FurAffinity that are made up of individuals who follow the Church of Satan and the works of Anton LaVey. Many have been wondering why we decide to go by the name Satanism. The name "was consciously designed to be an adversary to existing "spiritual" belief systems. It was the first organization promulgating a religious philosophy championing Satan as the symbol of liberty and individualism." - Magus Peter H. Gilmore
So yes, we use the name to make people question "God" and their faith (something Satan was very gifted at). It is not an open challenge to everyone of faith, it's more of an invitation to those who feel lost or are in doubt. We invite you to put yourself first and do what ever it takes to be happy.

aggh that makes me sad. Lavey was a crazycase, but an awesome one.
But yeah, the reasoning for the choice is very solid, it's just more like the rest of the world needs to look up their facts and stop being so heaven-and-hell obsessed....
