Yes indeed ... the definitive Alvin and his brothers -- and they never got any better than that!

ok now thats something entertaining. I would like a box set of this cartoon much more then the 80s version. Maybe Shout might get the rights someday hopefully.

I'm going to have to give it a "thumbs down".

How come?

It just seemed badly out of date and antique and over dramatic, the animation reminded me of those film strips from old high school days and the art direction just wasn't that good.

Id say because its almost Clutch Cargo level of animation and seems pretty dated. As a curiousity piece its worth a viewing but frankly its not entertaining at all. Its basically someone narrating a picture book.

The print Tracy linked to was put up by me. It was transferred from a 16mm given to me by Herb Klynn many years ago. The one you linked to is someone who downloaded my copy, altered the color balance and re-uploaded it. The film was in Eastmancolor and the print I have had faded badly, but it's all we got.

it makes you realize how far weve come from 16 mm film to bluray disc collections of material now.Now if nly studios would get to releasing copies of every cartoon ever made before they are lost

Words danced for him.

OP
Finally, somebody leaves a nice comment for Ray Bradbury himself. i was beginning to think that nobody even remembered who he was, or what a huge impact he made on science fiction writing -- heck, on writing in general!

Yeah, I noticed that. Maybe this story made too big an impact on too many of your watchers and they couldn't bring themselves to think about the story itself? Or maybe they remember this particular adaptation and want to reminisce?

well mr Bradbury wrote some great novels.I saw a panel about him with him being interviewed at comic con a few years ago. I only commented on the cartoon myself not the man.It would of been nice to see something better animated with his writing attached to it.
