Borderlands 2 Buddies? ( PS3 )

So I am wondering if I should get Borderlands 2 on release or wait awhile for a price drop and eh... as usual hype gets to a person and makes one want it ASAP. So yeah I mean, wonder if I should also try to find/make friends who are also going to get it for PS3.
Just the thing with that is that we both have to be available. Someone told me just make a character for solo and another for multiplayer. But I wonder if I'd bore/tire of the game more by replaying the same parts over and over.
The other thing is that I couldn't go at my own pace? Which is normally rather slow. The first Borderlands I only played by myself, I enjoyed it. But when I watch a stream of 2 guys playing it, locally at that so it was split-screen, just makes it seem more exciting to play with someone. But part of my OCD kicks in wondering if I would screw things up with my character and some mission or item or I dunno.
Just yeah... I dunno. Not many I know who have a PS3, or who prefer PS3 at that, or they don't plan on getting the game, or getting it for PC or 360 and eh yeah... hmm.
So I wonder... should I play with a friend for my first time and all that? Or at all or what? I dunno. A bleh journal I guess here.
How maybe trying to find someone to play it with since seems everyone I know is getting it for PC or 360. Maybe get to know them before doing so.

when does the game come out?
currently over september 15 nights so not a whole lot of free time but that contract is over few days before release, plan on taking a eek off around that time and just chilling, gaming.

And I am, I guess, but still not sure. And how I would want to IM with the person as well, get to know them over IM. Otherwise, think its still a bit of being a stranger when gaming, I dunno.
