What ever it was that I picked was strong enough to render my old computer useless by the end of the day, I'm just glad it didn't spread through the network and affect my parents computers.

People who have no life. I'm pretty sure all the datas still intact, however I can't access it so I'm looking for someone to extract the data from it.

That was my biggest mistake was that I never renewed my subscription with Norton Anti-virus. I was always carefull about what websites I went to, but I learned the hard way that surfing the internet carefully won't always protect me from such things.

I think I got mine through a add on DeviantArt, and I probably brought myself bad luck by braging to my friend that I hadn't renewd my subscription in two years yet never cought anything.

And don't think that DeviantArt is a bad site it was probably something that slipped through the cracks.

yeah i never understood people who make the random viruses

than again, they usually disable your computer and let other people use it or lets ads through for other stuff.

still though, that's gotta be a depressing job, if it is indeed one

spywear sucks... my moms PC got it and its like real annoying, now shes got like go on my PC for stuff. jeez i hope it gets fixed soon >.> wierd thing is she has protection. but at least you can get online now ^^

A friend of mine told me that none of the companies can pick up all the spyware and virus's that are out on the internet so it's better to have more than one anti-virus or anti-spyware program your computer. I still kind of had internet access but I had to use my mothers computer which limited when I could be online, but I've the internet back on my computer, so I can use when ever I want again.

The next time that you get a computer, consider getting an Intel Mac. You can run it with a dual boot; Windows when you are not connected to the net, and OS X (BSD UNIX with a user friendly shell) whenever you are online. BSD UNIX was developed under Defense Department Advanced Research Projects Agency grants as a networked OS with inherent military grade security. I don't use any antiviral software at all, but have never had any problems. I get notified of attempts to stick something into my computer without my permission at least 100 times per day, but none of that shit ever gets through.

The fundamental problem is that Windows was originally a single user OS; no need for security there. Then it was a business closed LAN OS; no need for elaborate security there, either. Then came the net, and Microsoft will never be able to close all the holes.
