Coworker conversations

General
Coworker "Man, we need more help in our area."
Me "Well hey, we got this new person coming in today. We just gotta train em."
Coworker "...Nu uh, I can't do that. They don't pay me enough here."
:/ I've heard variations of this over the past four years I've been at my job. Maybe I'm just a damn walking mat, I dunno, but people seem to give me statements like that a lot. I just think it's counterproductive as hell to say "we need extra help." and then not be willing to train em when we finally get them.

AGREE with you 100%. Some people are so incompetent to help with issues in the workplace, yet complain about it all the time, that's it's absolutely disgusting. Ugh. I know that feel.

You should give a witty comeback by saying, "Actually I think you are more qualified than me, so it would be ideal if you train him/her." or "maybe if you help me train him/her we will have less work in the future."

OP
That coworker I'm talkin about is one I'm not real fond of. She's sort of lazy. Puts the minimal amount of work in that she can while still keeping the job. Bugs the hell out of me. There's a hell of a lot more to it, but bleh, no point in complaining about all of it.
