Excitement over Sci-Fi

Hello again everyone.
How are you all? If you said "good", that's awesome? If you said "bad", have some ice cream, hit the gym and watch "P.S I love you." That will help, I promise.
So you are probably all wondering why in the world I am writing a journal. I mean me, Sage, mr. Vanishes for months. Well I'll tell you why, but first some back story.
AS a few of you know, I'm an active SL user. Well, semi active. I disappear for months there too. Its a bad habit, and I do it everywhere. Pern Forums are my most notorious vanishing place... If anyone from a Pern forum I used to be on reads this. I'm sorry; it wasn't anything you've said or done, or the site. It's my brain. My muse has the attention span of a tea spoon.
I digress; So I've been helping to run a sci-fi RP for while now, and it hasn't gone well. That's ok, things happen, and plans fail. Business 101 taught me that. All you can do is take notes and use them for later. Now what this has to do with this journal is this: after talking to a few other members of SecondLife, I discovered a sim in the making, called "Mesa 5" now I had heard about it before, and assumed it was going to be a simple and sad attempt at a RP (based of my previous attempts at running one >_>) but I was given the chance to view the Mesa 5 sim.
And wow. It's not even done being built yet. But I am already dying to play on that sim. The level of detail the creators are putting into this project is phenomenal. I wish I had taken pictures during my tour, but I was ony able to see the block-out. (kind of like a blue print) the entire thing will be made in mesh, I've been told. More so they are going to be using techniques to reduce lag on the system. This is getting me all excited. I've always been hesitant about highly detailed sims, as they use up so much server power existing that there isn't room for avatars anymore.
I met few of the team members, and most of them have either graduated, or are still studying Game dev or Comp sci. No wonder it's epic, even as a blue print.
Now I don;t want to divulge too much, on fear of angering the nice people who re making this happen. But the blog is here: http://mesa.greeblers.com/
I wish I could just beam my excitement into you all, but if you play SL at all, check out the open area of the sim! I'll be feeding you all updates as I get them myself! And hopefully soon I can tell you all of the ppening ceremony!
