Collaboration on Music

Lots of people on the music side of things here talk about or want to do collaborations. I'm up for it. As long as we can work out the schedules the method of data transfer and the like. I'd really like to at least try one. I see FL Studio, Sonar, Abelton, Mixcraft ..Audacity...<well I think it counts if you can record decent audio with it depending on your gear> . I'm a Reason 6 guy. I've been scouring the submissions looking to do Impromptu collab like maybe some backing music or something like that. Something that might make someones day... or breathe life into a project that was a permanent WIP. But like always I'll ask first permission first if you mind me having a go at one of your projects. It's the nice and respectable way to do it. Not worried if you say "No". I can respect that. It's YOUR music and right to handle it as such. Anyways that's what I'll be doing from time to time. Been having a blast so far FA... let's see what'll happen down the line.
Just wondering by chance how long you've been workin on beats? I've only had one attempt at FL studio and learnt from a trial-and-error process. Haven't used it since I finished my first and only beat tho XP

Me? I don't really consider myself a beat maker. But I've been doing music off and on for over 25 years... ugh.. <you're probably thinkin' wow some old guy who makes beats> I worked as a semi professional studio engineer so I did a lot of Hip Hop and Rap sessions and actually learned a few tricks through them.. like how to make loops really tight and how to blend the drum machine sound with the loops. I don't usually look for stuff to sample but rather use what comes with a program or sampling drum machine. So to really answer your question If I have sampled break beat already ... I just build a beat around that. Or take a basic drum machine beat and add some breakbeats to it. But I like any music that was built with sampled break beats alone.. Like some of the stuff J Dilla did. Your "Wolves among Angels" track is great for a first time out.. which makes me think you're a lot better than you give yourself credit for. You chopped that tune up like a pro and some already wanted to use it.. me included.. I get the vibe that you like some of the classic hip hop style and draw some influence from it. Anyways keep up the good work!!
Ah nice, so you have quite a lot of experience, haha. That's pretty cool man, one of my favorite things about making beats is sampling; just being able to find a song you really like and try to flip it- because there's not really any limit to what you can flip.. Dilla had some really crazy cuts in his beats, and Premier used samples from some of the hidden nooks n' crannies no one else would ever look to sample lol.. Thanks by the way, I do get a lot of influence from classic hip hop but I also listen to a lot of new school and underground artists.. J Cole, Elzhi, Charles Hamilton all big inspirations for me. I'll try to do my best, same to you too man!
