Wot de boz teenks...
So I'm at Anthrocon. Spending time with Maroobles. Just dumped an ass load of money on arts and fun stuff.
Somewhat regretting it but trying 100% not to. I am nurpdurpflurp.
Fun stuff.
Tomorrow... I do research on RPG.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuun.

Okay, due to thoughts going through my head I'd like to take a few notes down, put them up, and cover my first Con-Venture. Why? Cause I'm self Centered.
-Day One-
Woke up at 7:00 AM and camped out for the opening of the convention. Talked with a few people and made a few friends at the convention. Met a very nice asian woman, Stephanie, who was going to be fursuiting. Also met with a pair of dealers who were their for their first time at the auction. They had been drawing desperately trying to get some art worked up for display, which I watched them work on and had some fun conversing with.
At the con itself, I got
maloo his first commission from
ritts, which he had asked me for. Got one for me as well, cause I like Ritts boobieses. After that I shopped around and must have dumped around $100 to $200 on art. Was good fun.
After conshopping, I had to run over and let Maloo into the room. Then I had to run back into the con to drop off some ref sheets... ref sheets which had to be printed from the front desk at the kinkos next door. Embarassment and blushing manders.
Day one wrapped up with a trip to the zoo, where I managed to spot one of the people I had commissioned,
gravewalker, again. Maloo abandoned me to bother an artist that owed him art and I spoke with her,
kuroryushin-kuma (Who gave me a derpy hooves badge cutout ;.; <3), and
el3ctrophr34k (I had no clue about the fuzzy sketchbook) for quite a while, just discussing the convention, art, and things in general for some time. She's a very nice person, as is her husband. I kind of realized at this point that artists are people too, which made for more blushing manders.
-Day Two-
Woke up around the same time Maloo did and got everything sorted up. Gave myself a much lower limit on spending money for art (out of money Maloo owed me for what I got for him and paid for him from Dracojeff). Proceeded to spend around $48 of it on new art, which I recieved that same day, from some crazy good artists.
The day started fine but, as it progressed I'm not sure what happened. I was somewhat following Maloo around cause I thought he wanted to include me in things he wanted to do. Mainly, however, it seemed like I was mainly just acting as third wheel for a couple of his friends. Tried to get along, and I did for the most part even through the parade, until I was taking a peek at my art again, just in amazement of how fast the artists had gotten it completed. A little pass-around happened and I was pleased at the attention for a tiny bit, though still embarrassed. It kind of made me sour though when I heard one of them mutter, "Not drunk enough."
That kind of hurt me. I tried to shoulder on, smile, but it made me feel like even more distant. Combining that with the body language I had gotten all day I decided I should probably go along my own and try to make my own fun. I was a little hurt still when Maloo called to check where I was and I was a bit short on the phone with him. Around this time I went over to the game room and saw
jaycalihan playing in a game of ironclaw. Spoke with him for a while and watched the game he was playing, trying my best not to be a distraction during the game.
He had made a comment he was hungry, so I went over to the pizza shop to buy him some food. As I left I got a message from Maloo who was outside the tabletop area. He had lost his badge and was irritated. I went through the steps with him where he might have lost it, but it felt like he didn't want to speak with me because he was concerned for his badge. Went over to the food place in the Westin, grabbed a pair of pizzas, and headed back to the tabletop area. I managed to semi-jokingly eke a commission out of Jaycalihan (He was going to pay me, but I suggested art would let him buy some things he wanted still) and watched him draw my character while he was playing.
After his session was completed, I joined the next, woefully shortened game, and got through all the Chargen. Made a character named Alkin, a female armadillo dopplesoldner. Had the GM roll the personality and motto: She's greedy and daring. I love her. Things got a little crazy in the tiny session we played, with a pair of bandits trying to hide evidence of their crimes on the road in front of us. After seeing the reaction of the pair, my buff, 4'6" armadillo stopped them in their speech and asked them, plainly, "How much would you be willing to pay us for us to just forget all this and walk away." Their response: "You have money?" Alkin -> "We'll have yours." And they ran like shit from the tiny tank of death.
After a bit of fighting, which my little bootscooter didn't get to participate in, and a bit of postgame (During which my little tard fell into a burning house). We got our XP and our gifts. Alkin actually walked away with a Signature item -> The Glass Blade. I was a bit stunned.
Everyone packed up and rushed out the door, but I stayed to talk to the GM. I asked if he had helped develop Iron Claw, as he was incredibly familiar with the module and the rules. Turned out I was speaking with
rafferty. I blundered through a sales pitch of my game concept and he stated it was a good base to work off of. He encouraged me to start up a kickstarter and see what interest I could generate. I wanted to shake his hand again and thank him for listening to my pitch and discussing things with me, but his business partner came in and I quietly said my goodbyes so that I wasn't intruding. It didn't really click until I was walking to the hotel just now as to who he was. I nearly gleespasm'd when I realized.
Today was mostly a down day, but the ending made me feel wonderful.
Oh, and Maloo found his missing conbadge.
-Day Three-
Woke up this morning at 9:00 (Maloo had stayed up late) and went straight to the con. Found Gnaw waiting in line to enter the dealer's den. He recognized me, which was a bit of a shock, and he gave me my sketch. Mein Gott, so cute ;.;... unt dat butt!
After profusely thanking him and gushing over the art I waited in line and went into the den. Most of the people had packed up to go. Met with Ritts briefly and found out that he doesn't actually look at anything on the internet at all when at a convention. After meeting with him I headed over to Gravey and saw her working on coloring my commission. MY GOD the artists all make my snuggle horror so cute ;.;.
I left for a bit, met with the man running the dragonstorm game after watching them all play. I had wanted to join in, but it was the last session, so sadmanders. HOWEVER, I did speak with Tim, the guy running the game, and it was his first time at a furry con. I admitted I had had a lot of misconceptions from popular media as well, and also how glad I was that I was under the wrong impression. We spoke for a while and shared that I was making a game myself, to which he added that he, himself, appreciated a very minimalistic approach to his gaming, which is something I understood and agreed with.
After fooding it up some, I headed back to artist alley and spoke some with Gravey, as my legs were killing me. She didn't mind, but people seemed to be coming to speak with her so I said my goodbyes and went to check out how
iggi was doing. Iggi and Gravey so nice. SO NICE. We spoke for about an hour, having fun talking and joking around on certain things, which only made my day even better. I even had my camera eaten by a cute pink fluffdragon, (But its okay, I got it back). A couple comments were made about my beard, which I stated I had grown to make me seem angry, always. It never works, due to some semi-natural curls, and Iggi was poking fun at how even I as Cyn's owner always seemed so happy, excited, or just goofy. I had gotten a portfolio disc earlier, which she had not gotten too many sales from (Shame on you who did not offer to buy it from her, shaaaaame) and I found one of her prints I absolutely loved of a cute grasshopper girl. I spent the last of my spending money on her and have come away happy.
Maloo had tried to pull me away from the table, possibly wanting to do something else, but I hung around to give Iggi her receipt and talk some more. When I finally finished up it had been about an hour, which, after a stretch and a pop of my legs, meant I had been there for too long. (At this moment I'm realizing why my father and my mother always take time to talk to people: talking to people is stress relief, and it makes you more comfortable. If you run around doing business you don't relax)
Anyways, after wandering around for a little more, I met up with the Solid Snake cosplayer I had made friends with, then after seeing him to an artist he wanted to commission yet I headed back to the hotel. I'm sitting here thinking about it all now and I am so glad I came.
Thank you everyone for a wonderful AnthroCon for this con virgin.
And you guys =>
